There is pressure from somewhere forcing these people from doing their jobs to keeping their jobs. As Hubs2Sparky said in an earlier post, the two big "elephants in the room" are the media, as in corporate shills, and campaign finance. Those two alone will influence a representatives position. Think about the lobbyists, there are like 100 for each congress critter and senator. How would you deal with 100 well funded shills trying to influence you 24/7? What do you think it's like to know that you have to raise more money every day than you earn to be sure you keep your job?

Am I disappointed with these reps? Yea, sure, but I don't think I'd take on the responsibility for love or money.
