The Dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide
Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.

Dihydrogen monoxide:

· is also known as hydroxl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
· contributes to the "greenhouse effect."
· may cause severe burns.
· contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
· accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
· may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
· has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

Contamination is reaching epidemic proportions! Quantities of dihydrogen monoxide have been found in almost every stream, lake, and reservoir in America today. But the pollution is global, and the contaminant has even been found in Antarctic ice. DHMO has caused millions of dollars of property damage in the midwest, and recently California. Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:

· as an industrial solvent and coolant.
· in nuclear power plants.
· in the production of styrofoam.
· as a fire retardant.
· in many forms of cruel animal research.
· in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
· as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

Companies dump waste DHMO into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal. The impact on wildlife is extreme, and we cannot afford to ignore it any longer!

The American government has refused to ban the production, distribution, or use of this damaging chemical due to its "importance to the economic health of this nation." In fact, the navy and other military organizations are conducting experiments with DHMO, and designing multi-billion dollar devices to control and utilize it during warfare situations. Hundreds of military research facilities receive tons of it through a highly sophisticated underground distribution network. Many store large quantities for later use.

1. Don't worry.
Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 07:59 AM by Kutjara
Within about fifteen years, powerful commercial and political interests will have sequestered most of the planetary deposits of the chemical, so ordinary people won't often come into contact with it (certainly not in its pure form, anyway).

3. This is true despite its dangers
Major economic players are looking to leverage deposits of pure DHMO for futures trading.

7. Neil Boortz one time had the director of the Atlanta water system on his show
Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 08:34 AM by Jonathan50
Boortz had the poor guy vehemently denying that there was even a trace of "Dihydrogen Monoxide" in the Atlanta water system.

This was probably a couple of decades ago when Boortz was still just a local phenomenon in Atlanta.

I damn near drove off the road I was laughing so hard.

Boortz is an ass but he can be incredibly funny sometimes when he isn't talking politics.

8. I lot of people unfortunately fall for this
which I attribute to the pathetic state of science education in this country and they way the media is excessively alarmist over seemingly every little thing.

9. Which was why I posted it
There are always a lot of misconceptions about science. For some it is dismissing science because it contradicts their beliefs. For others there is the danger of placing science on a pedestal and anything that sounds suitably scientific is seen as gospel.

Carl Sagan in his book Demon Haunted World lamented about a cabbie he met that had an obvious love for knowledge but had been inundated by bad science. His mind was full of UFO and crop circles and all manner of nonsense. He wanted to know things but had fallen into a trap of believing anything that sounded exciting or sciencey(sic).

And didn't even test it vs. a placebo.

Edited on Fri Feb-16-07 02:14 PM by IMModerate
You just open up the container, and add water. It is full strength, and undifferentiable from the standard.:scared:

A group of kids went around a college campus gathering signatures from women to ban women's suffrage. I think I will post that one too.
