Candidate Thompson Gets Fruit Plate At Tommy's Country Ham House
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson said he was excited when he learned his campaign planned a stop at Tommy's Country Ham House in Greenville.

The former Tennessee senator said he was looking forward to a good breakfast on Wednesday morning. However, he said he got a fruit plate.

Thompson said his wife, Jeri, and others have encouraged him to watch his cholesterol and weight and to exercise more.

Thompson said his new eating plan at home is "if it tastes good, don't eat it."

I can't tell you how funny I find this. Tommy's Country Ham House owner, Tommy Stevenson, is a good friend of mine. Tommy is almost the lefty I am, and a staunch South Carolina Democrat. Tommy even carries a digital Bu$h Countdown clock on his key chain. If Tommy sees me walk into the Ham House he will yell, "Hey Mac! 425 days left for theses sorry bastards!"

If I'm at the COUNTRY HAM HOUSE, I think I'd have the COUNTRY HAM.
