Substance Found At Rep's Office 'Not A Toxin' - AP
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A suspicious envelope forced a brief evacuation of U.S. Rep. Ron Klein's office in South Florida on Thursday, but nothing harmful was found, police said.

The letter, addressed to Klein, arrived at his local office with a "glittery substance," in it said Fort Lauderdale spokeswoman Shannon Vezina said. The entire building was evacuated, and Broward County's Hazardous Materials Team was called to the scene.

An investigation was under way.

The building has been reopened and no injuries were reported. The envelope and substance were turned over to the FBI, Vezina said.

"We don't believe it to be anything of a threatening nature," she said.
