A noun, a verb, 9-11 . . . and pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays, and lesbians
Edited on Wed Nov-07-07 11:05 AM by bigtree

Pat Robertson endorsed Rudy Guliani today. MSNBC carried the announcement live, as if it was a coronation by the Pope himself. Robertson read from a prepared statement praising what he said was Guliani's success during his vast experience as a mayor in reducing crime, lowering taxes etc..

Robertson will evidently look to Guliani to campaign against the Democratic Congress, the liberal-based media and the homosexuals who want to destroy the Christians. Robertson will also, undoubtedly, expect Guliani to rail against the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, and the People For the American Way.

Anyone in the Guliani camp worried about 'separation of church and state' as a result of the close, personal endorsement by the evangelist, will be relieved to know that it was never in the Constitution. However much the liberals laugh at him for saying it, they know good and well it was never in the Constitution! Such language only appeared in the constitution of the Communist Soviet Union."

Anyway, according to Robertson, Guliani will only have to pay attention to the provisions of the Constitution which affect Christians. "The Constitution of the United States is a marvelous document for self-government by the Christian people. But the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian people and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society."

The Guliani camp will be gratified to learn from Robertson that all he would have to do to prevent any major damage to vulnerable towns from hurricanes and the like is to avoid "gay day" celebrations like Disneyworld held in Orlando. Robertson will counsel Guliani to warn towns at risk that that type of behavior will bring about the destruction of your nation. It'll bring about terrorist bombs; it'll bring earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor."

After close counsel with Robertson, Guliani is expected to call on Hillary Clinton to let her husband run her campaign without question or objection. According to Robertson, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0731979/">"as long as the husband is following the mandate of the Lord, the wife should submit to his leadership even though she may disagree with it. God's standard is true. Yet in many marriages, the wife is more able than her husband. Regretfully a woman with great abilities sometimes marries a man who does not have much ability. This wife must resist the temptation to dominate her husband. Her husband will sometimes make decisions that the wife feels are wrong. She must either gently persuade her husband or pray that God will change her husband's mind."

And, there's no need for Guliani to worry about the best way to reorganize the military to meet all of the expectations he has to continue Bush's military expansionism. According to Robertson, all he needs is a very small nuke thrown off on Foggy Bottom to shake things up"

Guliani was fortunate to fall into one of the two categories of Americans who Robertson approves of "bringing into government." "When I said during my presidential bid that I would only bring Christians and Jews into the government, I hit a firestorm," Robertson wrote in his book, "The New World Order."

`What do you mean?' Robertson said the media challenged him. `You're not going to bring atheists into the government? How dare you maintain that those who believe in the Judeo Christian values are better qualified to govern America than Hindus and Muslims?' My simple answer is, `Yes, they are," Robertson said.

Guliani's response to the endorsement? A noun, a verb and 9-11, of course.

1. Really great piece - thanks. Robertson is such a freak. Giuliani must view his
endorsement as a mixed blessing.

10. Guliani just wants their votes. He doesn't seem to give a damn who he offends
. . . he thinks he can just bull through, saying what each crowd he encounters wants to hear.

GIULIANI'S ADJUSTED LANGUAGE

June 28, 2007

Hours after speaking at Pat Robertson's Regent University, a must-stop destination for Republicans wooing Christian voters, Giuliani strode through the doors of a Jewish temple in Maryland to address members of another faith. The contrast was not lost on Giuliani, who joked, "If I hit a Catholic church tonight, I'm all set!"

But aside from the late-night comedy potential of the mayor's schedule Tuesday, the back-to-back speeches also offered some intriguing insights into how Giuliani tailors his anti-terror message to each of his audiences . . .

He used Robertson's Christian Network when he was spinning his cell phone act:

Giuliani cites 9/11 in explaining cell phone gaffe

September 28th, 2007

Giuliani told TV preacher Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network exactly why he answered his phone: 9/11.

5. Wasn't Robertson threatening to form a third party?
Conservative Christians were talking about forming a breakaway party if Guiliani, who they regard as unnaceptably liberal on gay marriage and abortion, won the GOP nomination. Now here's Robertson endorsing him. Does anyone else find this a bit fishy? What's Guiliani offered him in return?

6. No, that was Dobson - the fundy nutjob out in Colorado
Dobson is the big kahuna of the Religious Right movement now and is sometimes, not so tongue-in-cheek, referred to as the Evangelical Pope, amusing given that Dobson is not a minister nor has any ministerial training but rather is a child phychologist (who advocates corporal punishment until kids cry and fathers showering with their sons to show them their large, adult penises and so turn them away from "the gay"). Robertson is a half tier down from Dobson these days - still important, but not Mr. Big.

7. This should throw the fundies for loop!
Family values has been REDEFINED! It doesn't matter whether a Republican front-runner has a history of multiple marriages / mistresses, cross dressing, and prior positions on abortion, gay rights, and gun control that are all WRONG from the social conservative standpoint. Just hit the "R" come voting time and God's graces will rain down on you. Will they buy it? Does where you stand on the issues really matter or is it all about partisanship and winning? Even the most steadfast and stubborn fundie will has to pause and consider the apparent inconsistency here.

9. They've known all along about the depths of their proclivities
. . . that's why they pray so much; to save their retched souls.

But, it is revealing how much they're willing to stray from their religious orthodoxy to keep their political bludgeon in power and effect. I don't believe for a moment that there was ever any honesty behind their discrimination.

15. Anyone who thought marion wouldn't endorse ghouliani is a fool.
No one has benefitted more from republikkans in charge than marion robertson.
Not only does he get personal confabs with the white house when he wants it, but that crappy little college he runs has many graduates that have filled the administration and the courts.
It's all about power and excess...i mean access.

Edited on Wed Nov-07-07 07:47 PM by ooglymoogly
Jerry Falwell's bones must be just about burned to a crisp. Like us all, hell needs fuel and the more evil the soul the longer it burns; So watch out Robertson you are in the cross hairs. The Grim reaper is on your doorstep and drooling over the mountains of evil you have blithely mounted up. I know judge not lest yee...blah blah blah

17.  . . . throwing stones

"I'm guided very, very often about, `Don't judge others, lest you be judged,'" Giuliani told CBN interviewer David Brody. "I'm guided a lot by the story of the woman that was going to be stoned, and Jesus put the stones down and said, 'He that hasn't sinned, cast the first stone,' and everybody disappeared.

"It seems like nowadays in America, we have people that think they could've passed that test," he said. "And I don't think anybody could've passed that test but Jesus."

In the New Testament story, related in the Gospel of John, Jesus does not actually hold stones. The Pharisees bring Jesus a woman charged with adultery, reminding him the punishment for adultery is stoning. They are testing Jesus in an effort to charge him with breaking the law.

The Gospel reads: "But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, 'Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.'

"... And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders . . ."

19. Oh what a lovely story...So moved...the tears are blinding me
You are right we should not judge * or Ch$ney or ghouliani even if they are killing murdering the youth of Murka and Iraq and soon to be Iran. We should just clutch our pearls purse our lips, hitch our skirts, lift up our asses and say "may I have another sir" and walk away...Fer sher dude. Speaking of platitudes, A fool and his life (in this instance)are soon parted.

18. Two nuts from the same tree
Both of 'em. The good thing is that this will kill Ghouliani's momentum for sure.

Biden is right about noun + verb + 9/11. I overheard Rudee's interview with Brian Williams last night. In the space of about 1 minute, I think he said "September 11th" at least 3 times! :eyes:
