Conyers is in a box: Don't forget the "Discharge Petition"
If Conyers sits on the Impeachment of Cheney Bill in the Judiciary, Kucinich, if he gets a majority to sign a discharge petition can get the bill to the floor regardless. My bet is, the Republicans who voted against tabling the motion would quickly sign a discharge petition.

My bet is, Conyers would rather try and kill it in Committee, rather than allowing Dennis to get the discharge petition signed. That will require some Democrats switching over and voting with Republicans. But, the blue dogs don't want to have to even vote on this measure...and, the ones on that committee who switch sides will catch hell.

Conyers has already said he believes that Cheney has committed high crimes. If he sits on this, he looks real bad.

It's time all good Democrats to get on the phone, fax, e-mail and take trips to Capitol Hill and keep putting pressure on Conyers....that includes the constituents in his own district.

Let's make this happen.

1. I doubt Republicans would sign a discharge petition in large numbers
It starts to hit to close home, the game they played today was one thing, but I doubt they go further.

2. I thought I heard Keith say that Dennis can bring it up on the floor as often as he wants
because it is a personal priviledge bill.
