Thompson Doesn't Think He'll Be President
Forget Macaca. Forget the Dean Scream. Fred Thompson's admission that he doubts he'll win the presidential race is a political gaffe that tops them all.

To make matters worse, Thompson imploded while waiting to be interviewed by Fox News. It wasn't like the liberal media trapped him into saying something stupid. He did it to himself.

The Thompson candidacy was fun while it lasted. I am not sure what I will miss the most -- the endless chatter about his laziness or the endless chatter about his attractive wife.
The U.K.'s Daily Telegraph newspaper captured the moment thusly:

Chatting off-air to a television reporter, a stunningly candid off-the-cuff quip from the Hollywood actor cemented the impression that his heart is not in the 2008 race. Trying to encourage his studio to hurry up so an interview could start, Carl Cameron of Fox News said into his microphone: "The next president of the United States has a schedule to keep." Standing beside him, a deadpan Mr Thompson interjected: "And so do I."

As some Thompson aides looked bemused and others cringed, a taken-aback Mr Cameron, Fox's chief political correspondent, exclaimed: "You can't do that kind of stuff!"

The thud you just heard was the Fred Thompson bandwagon grinding to a halt.

6. Ummm, he is an actor after all, has anyone ever thought that this whole
show of him being a candidate was nothing more than another role? I mean he is not a bad actor so my thought would be that his script writers this time around was just not up to par.

24. You and me both, and you said the right word, "pimping out"
You know, if one thing that my daughters troubles have taught me that she began experiencing over a year ago is that we humans are just not ready for people to be completely and utterly truthful with each other, no matter how much some would love politicians to be more up front and honest and more like they truly are and say what they truly feel and mean we would more than likely end up with far too many ok corral like situations happening on a huge scale.

Its hard to explain, you would have to have experienced hearing someone speak her mind regardless of who was listening, and even I had to change my one held precious wish, a person who once valued honesty and people being more upfront and honest with each other has learned the hard way, sometimes it is better to just lay it "lie" and if your honesty can become too much for me and others, please keep it to yourself.

I even see Dur's many times get all up in arms when it's more than obvious someone is writing exactly what they mean and what they are feeling, it's like sirens break out and thankfully the net makes it virtually impossible to stop whatever means necessary the one whom just spoke truthfully, for them at least.

I just wish the writing and acting of some wouldn't be so wishy washy at times, that is almost as annoying.

23. I guess he was just too damned lazy to read ...
... the "You're the Great White Hope, Fred" memo that was circulated a few months back.

Just sitting here chucklin' over comments about an article I wrote, which wound up on that site, to whit: "Oh, yeah? Just WAIT until Thompson gets going, then you'll see something!", and, "Man, will the Dems heads explode when Fred is sworn-in as president in January 2009."

Mm hmm. Well, Freddie got goin' -- and now Freddie's Dead (He's Standing on the Corner Now).

That was quick.
