26. You're fucking kidding me right?
They want the dems to get themselves into the same exact mess they had back in 1996.

Thank them for what - they couldn't give 2 shits about the constitution. They're playing a game of chickenshit to see how far we'd actually go with this impeachment.

10. Perhaps the republicans know what impeachment cost them and was hoping the dems would dig that hole
I want this impeachment but I have to agree some with what Hoyer said. There are so many other critical things that need done that impeachment will only take away from more important issues including the war and children's healthcare.

I highly doubt these republicans were more 'liberal' then the democrats who voted to table. I think those repukes wanted to see the democrats become so consumed with the impeachment that everything else gets tabled, gets forgotten and ultimately might help the republicans gain ground in 2008.

38. bad news is, without impeachment, there not only will be more ...
unnecessary (and more destructive for the country) wars, there won't be more children's healtcare (among with less of many other "important" issues, like, for example, less heating oil for the poor this winter, etc.).

How will "less of all the important issues" ever help the republics gain ground? (or the dems also, at this point?)

54. NO. Impeachment gets the facts out. It is the ONLY weapon stronger than
executive priviledge. Well there ar other weapons, but obviously Pelosi and Hoyer will not let them be used.
for example: not letting certain votes happen in the house.

And let them try to spin them until the 91% who already can't fathom the dick SCREAM for impeaching his a**.

We don't have the senate count to actually remove Bush and we know that impeachment will takeover the entire congress 24X7 getting even LESS done then what is happening now. Half the problem with Congress is Bush is (or threatening) to Veto just about anything the Dems passed.

20. Oh BULLSHIT!!!
And how much more work will we have to do when we give the congress back to the republicans?

I know this is a disappointment but those republicans could care less about the impeachment. Those republicans voting for it WANT the democrats to shoot themselves in the foot just like they did back in 1996.

I'm torn about this whole impeachment issue because I know Bush is a crook but I also know that 2 years was not enough time to get an impeachment going because impeachments will consume so much time (and result in nothing more than a hand slap because we don't have the count in the Senate) that we'll get nothing else accomplished (not that we have gotten much done since Bush remembered he can veto).

42. I have no clue what to say about Mukasey but then again Feingold set that precident back in 2001
when he gave Ashcroft to Bush.

(you can look that one up - Feingold's "The pResident deserves to have the congress he wants bullshit")

I'm not sure who I'm more pissed at - Kucinich (who does mean really well about all of this) or Hoyer for tabling it thus giving repukes a chance to say "Look ma, we said we could have an impeachment hearing"

Had we got congress back in 2004 impeachment would have been much more feasible, but I knew the moment we won congress that this was going to be a big sticking point that would potentially shoot us in the foot.

Well, we must keep the pressure on our, and I stress OUR Reps to bring this up again for debate. These so and so's are supposed to represent the people in their district and let's not let them forget it.
I just got off the phone with Braley's local office, and she said she "didn't know how Bruce was voting" on this. I told her that no matter what, me and others would keep pressure on him to support HR 333 if it ever comes up again.

Isn't it amazing, that on such an important issue, they have no answer? If someone were to ask about any other pending issue, there probably would be a statement of position all ready to go. This is so important, and they can't take a stand, even to admit they won't support it. It's insane.

53. The MSM said there were weapons of mass destruction. the MSM lies.
You cannot give something up because someone will say nasty things about you. Someone will always disagree with you, no matter what you are doing. You have to do what is right. If the republicans scream and shout, that is a sign that we are doing the right thing, not the wrong thing.

It is a misconception that we should "play nice" in order to avoid backlash. That particular way of thinking is why we are in the mess we are in. Bush/Cheney keep taking just a little bit more. There is not much left to take. Playing nice did not help ever, in these past 7 years.

impeachment brought against Clinton for lying about a PERSONAL MATTER. Every one of them knew in their hearts that if *they* were cheating on *their* spouse and someone asked them about it, they'd LIE about it at first too.

This is a totally different situation now, there are REAL CRIMES that have been committed by this misadministration. REAL FREAKING CRIMES...

*Big* difference... the ONLY ones that will lose next time around will be the dems... all because they DIDN'T impeach...
