So do any of these "pro-family" groups ever actually help any families?
I keep hearing about the AFA (American Family Association) and the FRC (Family Research Council)
and Focus on Family and all these other "Christian" pro-family groups criticizing and condemning
all sorts of things...usually
equal rights for gays
sexual freedom/expression
family planning including but not limited to abortion
and on and on...

But do they EVER actually do anything to help FAMILIES???? I mean, aside from protecting all of those poor traditional nuclear
families who only want to be exposed to fundie WAP values from the vast plethora of sinfulness in the world....
:eyes:

Do they ever support quality childcare? Collect money for the poor or provide respite care for those taking care of disabled kids or elderly parents?
Where's the PRO-family part of it???

2. No. They Only Want to Force People to Have Families Who Don't Want Them

4. Beside their own?
Or that of their own kind?

Eh, not that I've ever been aware of.

But, hey, that's just me.

:D

6. I wonder if they even help their own, esp. if
they don't tow the party line. Can you imagine how they treat their own kids who
are gay, or have sex before marriage? The horror, the horror....:eyes:

10. Imagine? I've seen some of it. I've also seen how they treat "their" women.
Their idea of family values has little to do with family and even less to do with values.

I know you know that, but I just had to write it.

5. No, they do not.
They blow a lot of hot air, and do their best to legislate "morality" but they don't give one red cent, or one ounce of compassion to those who need it the most.

They spread hate, and disguise it as "family values."

Hypocrisy at its nastiest.

14. Exactly. I'm not happy to have to say it...
...but yeah.

Most of their message is hate-speak against gays, women, and people who have premarital sex.

That "helping families" stuff is a smokescreen.

7. Pat Robertson has a group in our area who were always soliciting money for his charities.
Well a lady who lived down the road from us, lost her job and couldn't find another right away. She needed help right away. Her friends and neighbors applied to Robertson's group, and guess what they wouldn't give her any help. First she didn't qualify...what ever the hell that meant. She was in need she needed food and fuel costs and rent. Then and I swear to God, the second thing was she did not belong to their religious contingency.

The neighbors went to the Adventist organization Church. The preacher wrote out a check for the emergency and signed it GOD HELPS> Which gave her time to get on her feet. I could not believe that an organization that professed to help people wouldn't give this woman a penny. I tell you one thing his donations dried up in our area.

25. Yeah. It just pisses me off that they use
an issue that's so soft and fuzzy...where there are so many legit needs and they are just adding
to the confusion, not helping at all. :(

13. They aren't pro family in the sense that they want to help people who have families
They are pro family in that they support the *institution* of the family as they have rigidly defined it, and want to "defend" that definition against anything that encroaches on their supposed turf. It's got nothing to do with people, it's just the concept that they want to defend.

18. And a bullshit concept at that.
How can people have any respect for that? There are no good works to back them up. They are essentially using
the "institution" of family as a political ploy and the "defense" of it is a crock!

I am choking on the bullshit that our country has become so FULL OF!

How disgusting.

So I guess we must make sure every child is BORN, but after that - no healthcare for you! :wtf:

On edit: It seems I can never underestimate the slimy evil of these people. To PRAY against a healthcare program for
poor kids. OMG!
