"a problem that causes memory card failures during elections."

Survey contradicts vote machine firm's failure rate claim

A leading voting machine manufacturer said some of its 25,000 optical scan readers used locally and throughout the nation have developed a problem that causes memory card failures during elections.

While state and Diebold Inc.'s election division officials say the problem does not threaten the integrity of U.S. elections, Volusia County election officials note the problem has caused errors and adds to the costs of elections.

"I don't think votes are lost," Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall said. "There are so many checks and balances."

Her office is accustomed to dealing with the failures, McFall said, and she doesn't anticipate problems for Tuesday's election.

Is he talking about the checks going to the accounts of Volusia County officials to improve their balances?

3. She certainly is used to dealing with failures.
Since she's an Elections Supervisor in Florida.

And I seem to remember something about 18,000 missing votes in Sarasota County.

6. Causes memory card failure DURING ELECTIONS?
Is there some other time that voting machines are used other than during elections?

Isn't that like having a car that only has issues when it's running?

9. Exactly.
These things are required to work properly two days out of the year, and they can't.

7. When do we get to put 'em in jail?
"DELAND, Fla., Nov. 11 - Something very strange happened on election night to Deborah Tannenbaum, a Democratic Party official in Volusia County. At 10 p.m., she called the county elections department and learned that Al Gore was leading George W. Bush 83,000 votes to 62,000. But when she checked the county's Web site for an update half an hour later, she found a startling development: Gore's count had dropped by 16,000 votes, while an obscure Socialist candidate had picked up 10,000--all because of a single precinct with only 600 voters."

11. The really sad thing is...
this is not new information. Blackbox voting has been exposing security issues with voting machines for years. The real news is when this information actually makes it into the mainstream media, which is rare to say the least.

E-voting is a scam, wrapped in a farce, hidden within lies, surrounded by money. Sad that e-voting could possibly be a good thing if handled responsibly and transparently.

13. To err is human. To really f**k up (or steal an election) you need a computer.
"I don't think votes are lost," Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Ann McFall said. "There are so many checks and balances."

Without back up of some kind, preferably a paper trail, where does this person think the votes are saved? Why is someone with such ignorance about computer systems in charge of a computer system?

Do Democrats really believe that the Republicans will not try to steal the 2008 election? Do the Democrats believe that their slightly improved performance in the 2006 election means that the problems encountered with vote stealing in 2000 and 2004 have been solved?

Discussion about vote stealing and election rigging seems to have disappeared from view.
