2008: DEMOCRATS v REPUBLICANS ... It's A Clear Choice
Edited on Mon Nov-05-07 10:32 AM by BLUSH

TWO-FRONT WAR

Defend The Constitution Against All Enemies ...

1. Foreign (Fighting Terrorism Abroad)

-- "refocus our resources on fighting terrorist networks and on addressing trouble spots around the world that threaten our national security."

-- "the president's policy has us in Iraq with no end in sight. But the Iraqis need an end in sight to get their political house in order, and we need an end in sight so we can get back to fighting terrorist networks."

-- "setting a target date for redeployment, so that we can direct our resources to defeating the terrorist organizations that seek to harm this country."

Sen. Russ Feingold

-- "We did not finish the job against al Qaeda in Afghanistan. We did not develop new capabilities to defeat a new enemy, or launch a comprehensive strategy to dry up the terrorists' base of support. We did not reaffirm our basic values, or secure our homeland. I pleaded that we 'finish the fight with bin Ladin and al Qaeda.' Because of a war in Iraq that should never have been authorized and should never have been waged, we are now less safe than we were before 9/11. The first step must be getting off the wrong battlefield in Iraq, and taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan."

Sen. Barack Obama

-- "We have to realize that we are in the middle of a sectarian civil war in Iraq and that it is well past time to start withdrawing our troops in the middle of that war. And we must also realize that the global threat of terror demands that we secure our home front, take on the terrorist networks abroad, and combat a false doctrine of hate, death and destruction."

Sen. Hillary Clinton

2. Domestic (Fighting Fascism At Home)

-- "the Constitution of the United States belongs to the American people, not to the Bush administration. It is our responsibility as Senators and Congressmen to stand up and fight for it."

Sen. Chris Dodd

-- "the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act gives us a chance to reverse one of the Bush Administration’s many assaults on our civil liberties."

Sen. Chris Dodd

-- "I will not vote to give a single new police power to this administration. I voted against the PATRIOT Act when it first passed, and I remain even more opposed to this legislation today. I urge my colleagues to vote against the PATRIOT Act reauthorization, to stand up for our Constitution, to stand up for our Bill of Rights, to remember the long struggle that was instrumental in establishing those liberties."

Rep. Dennis Kucinich

-- "(Attorney General Gonzales) has permitted the President's illegal wiretapping program that allows intelligence agencies to eavesdrop on the conversations of Americans without a judge's approval or Congressional authorization or oversight; failed to protect the privacy of the American people when he allowed the FBI to flagrantly misuse National Security Letters to get the private financial, phone and Internet records of American citizens; directed argument three times at the Supreme Court, losing all three, that the United States can hold people indefinitely without their day in court ..."

Sen. Joe Biden

-- "No President is above the law -- but this Administration has consistently acted as if the Constitution was just a guideline instead of our highest law."

Sen. Joe Biden

BROKE-BACK WAR

Defend The Institution Of Marriage ...

-- Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney is launching a radio ad touting the strength of his opposition to gay marriage. "Defending marriage is the right thing to do."

Gov. Mitt Romney

-- As president, he promised to defend marriage as a "sacred union" between one man and one woman.

Rep. Tom Tancredo

-- "I pledge to defend the bond of marriage."

Sen. Sam Brownback

-- Keyes voiced support for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, and said he would defend the natural family. "We have to restore the understanding of what marriage is."

Alan Keyes

-- "I firmly believe that marriage is one of the most important social institutions we have and that it is central to promoting family values and raising children in a healthy environment. It is for this reason that I cosponsored and voted in favor of H.J. Res. 88 (Musgrave-CO), which proposes an amendment to the U.S. Constitution declaring that marriage in the United States shall consist solely of the union of a man and a woman."

Rep. Duncan Hunter

IN SUMMARY:

-- "America is more than a place. America is an idea. Right now that idea is threatened, from the outside by terrorists and from the inside by those who have betrayed the Constitution."

Sen. John Edwards

3. Functionally, There Ain't Much Difference In Outcomes Of The Two Parties
The Democrats now have the power to not pass legislation, and to keep a filibuster going.

Instead of using these powers, they have chosen to adopt a "We suck slightly less - who else ya gonna vote for, assholes?!" strategy, and maintain the staus quo while whining that the Republicans are naughty. We see Chuckie Schumer running around trying to keep taxes on the Ultra-Rich at half th rate of the Middle Class. We have endorsement of warantless wiretapping. We have allowed lawlessness in the DOJ. And so forth.

6. This War = The Defining Struggle of the 21st Century!!!!!!
We're at war, people! Why is it that only the Republicans get it???

-- "I think it's absolutely important that the American people defend the institution of marriage."

Rev. Pat Robertson

-- "An overwhelming majority of North Carolinians support marriage as a sacred bond between one man and one woman, but our current laws are not enough to protect society's most important institution. The STAKES ARE TOO HIGH to let traditional marriage become a chapter in our history books. That's more than OUR DUTY - it's OUR CALLING."

State Sen. Fred Smith

-- "America has a CHOICE to make. Will it let a very small, but very vocal minority overturn thousands of years of history and rewrite the traditional definition of marriage? Or will a majority of Americans, STAND UP, recognize the importance of the institution of marriage and enact policies that reinforce this vital institution?"

Rep. Randy Neugebauer

-- "The truth is that, for these detractors, there will never be a good time to protect the traditional institution of marriage — because they don't want to protect the traditional institution of marriage. Government has the responsibility to take precautions to PROTECT the institution of marriage."

Sen. John Cornyn

-- "We will DEFEND marriage as the union between a man and a woman.”

Sen. Wayne Allard

-- "I will do everything I can to DEFEND marriage in Alabama."

Gov. Bob Riley

-- "The debate in the U.S. Senate is likely only the beginning of the STRUGGLE to protect families and our traditional way of life. But it is a STRUGGLE we must win."

Sen. Jim Bunning

-- "I would argue that the FUTURE of our country HANGS IN THE BALANCE because the future of marriage hangs in the balance. Isn't that the ULTIMATE HOMELAND SECURITY, standing up and defending marriage?"

Sen. Rick Santorum

"This is the WATERLOO, this is the GETTYSBURG," Dobson said. "If lost, it will be like a mirror shattered. Once it's broken, it will not be able to be repaired."

James C. Dobson

Isn't their marriage worth defending?

8. Bush fueling terrorism
An aggressor occupied my country, destroyed it and made millions refugees. It is an honor to fight this,” said Hamid Ali.

"the U.S. occupation of Iraq drove many of them to join the movement and that it still drives their hatred of America. Some, in fact, were arrested for trafficking in Internet videos about Iraq designed specifically to motivate and recruit for al-Qaida."

“We’ve got our best and brightest in the wrong desert, chasing the wrong bad guys... By diverting so much money, so much of our intelligence effort and so much of our special forces in the military to fighting a war in Iraq, we have diverted resources from the central battlefield in the war against al-Qaida.”

9. Oppose Mukasey: No Waterboarding, No Dictatorship
I urge you to oppose the nomination of Judge Michael Mukasey for Attorney General of the United States.

In his sworn testimony before the Senate, Judge Mukasey refused to acknowledge that waterboarding is torture, even though it was used for torture by the Spanish Inquisition, the Japanese in World War II, and Cambodia's Khmer Rouge.

Mukasey also insists the President can ignore the law to wiretap American citizens without a warrant.

Mukasey has thus proven his contempt for the Geneva Conventions, the Rule of Law, and the Constitution itself.

If you do not oppose Judge Mukasey, you will become complicit in the Bush-Cheney policies of waterboarding and warrantless wiretapping, and thereby violate your sworn oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

12. the constitution president
What we have been living through the past six years is watching a complete shredding of the constitution of the United States. I’m sure I’m not the only one in this country that likes our constitution.

Our incredible president has told us numerous times that his number one job is to keep us safe, but after six plus years, he still doesn’t get it. His sworn responsibility is to uphold and defend and respect the constitution first and foremost. He’s even told us that he’s the War President, and since he ignores the wishes of the people and continues to occupy another country is threatening with his cronies to attack the next country, I believe him. He is the war president.

What we need is the Constitution President, and Senator Obama will be that man. We are desperate for a leader in the White House who truly understands his role as president, and that is to protect and defend the constitution of the United States, nothing more and nothing less.

Barack, I will be seeing you this coming week in San Francisco, and I want to hear you stand at the podium and say these words: “I will be the Constitution President! I will not be the War President, the Education President, the Immigration President or any other meaningless label. I will be the president of the United States and I will fiercely protect and vigorously defend the constitution of the United States.”

13. American Fascism: Caesar to Hitler to Bush
The Patriot Act - The War Powers Act and the non-Contitutional decrees that Bush has made under these abominations have ended the Rule of law in America. We are now living under the oppressive thumb of Tyranny - a dictatorship of the worst kind - a stupid and morally bankrupt tyrrant the likes of which has not been seen since the days of Nero. Known as the emperor who "fiddled while Rome burned"; much as Bush fiddled with his tie while planes crashed into towers on 9-11 and fiddled around with his buddies while New Orleans drowned.

We're going to have to work a lot harder; If we are going to restore the Republic. I can't think of anything more worth working and fighting for than Freedom. It was quite a glorious experiment to try to create a nation Ruled by Law. The Constitution of the United States is more than just a piece of paper; it is the liberation from the centuries of tyranny of men - the capricious whims of fools and the delusions of madmen. All that has been scraped by the cowards that we elected to represent us in congress.

Demand the return of the Rule of Law - Impeach the Tyrant who P**sed on the Constitution - and Bush will "Beware the IdesOfMarchNow.org !"
