Still Made In the U.S.A.
I know it's been posted here before, I just thought it might be time for a reminder, what with the holiday shopping season fast approaching.

1. I actually found some cotton underwear (hey, it's hot in Texas!)
that was made in the USA.

The brand is Dixie Belle.

3. lol
at first i thought it was an exclamation -- as in Jeeprs Creepers" or something to that affect.

But I just realized you're saying that "Jeeps are still made in USA." Is that right?

5. yes, I know they still make them in Illinois and Toledo
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 04:36 PM by LSK
The Jeep Patriot is built in Belvidere, IL and I think the Liberty is made in Toledo (where the Cherokee was made).

9. Better Mileage than the Toyota SUV Hybrids
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 05:02 PM by AndyTiedye
AFAIK, the Ford Escape Hybrid still has the best mileage of any SUV on the market here.

The mileage figure is not inflated either. We actually get 29 mpg or better on the highway with the 4WD.

10. Yes a timely reminder, thank you :-)
The manufacturing industries are being hit so hard, and Chrysler's holding company just dropped a bombshell that they're going to be slashing and burning a ton of jobs. It's so important that we try to support whoever is left anymore.

14. that's the rub
it's a little more expensive, that's the whole reason Americans are loosing jobs in the first place.

but if you can afford it, i think it's worth it to support american workers.

29. The products they've come out with lately really blows my mind
They make a home theater powered subwoofer, that uses two 18" subs, getting a total of 1300 watts, thats 650 watts per sub. The whole thing weighs 435lbs! They reinforce the boxes alot mostly due to all air passages their is which is for sound quality purposes. The prices is pretty steep at 2 grand, but I'm sure its a bargain compared to other name brands that makes (do they?) a similar setup. Its honestly overkill for an average living room. If I was to get one of their HT subs, it would probably be this one http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/product_info.php?cPath=2_41&products_id=618

31. but really good stuff. Sunfire and Outlaw are incredible, but you have to be willing to pay for it
Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 03:50 AM by kysrsoze
I found American pencils, folders, etc., at various Back-to-School sales, but you MOST CERTAINLY have to pay attention to notice when the opportunity presents itself. Every market is important for buy "American." I try to buy American whenever I absolutely can. After that comes every country but China. I love shopping at Aldo shoes b/c you can actually buy Italian-made shoes at a reasonable price. However, I haven't been there in months and I'm afraid they've started importing Chinese-made shoes, just like almost every other well-known shoe manufacturer. Will I still feel happy shopping at Aldo? Guess we'll see.

Final note - watch what you eat if you're a big fish person. Much of the frozen fish you find in the local grocery store comes from China. Watch out for the poisons!

Edited on Sun Nov-04-07 03:59 AM by kysrsoze
even my New Balance shoes. Believe it or not, I figured out that certain sizes of New Balance shoes are American and the rest are Chinese-made. I'm sorry, but NOTHING is worth Chinese dumping and toxic materials, especially from a long-term perspective.
