Conservative dismisses waterboarding as a ’swim lesson.’

On Wednesday night on CNN’s The Situation Room, conservative columnist and “Republican strategist” Rachel Marsden dismissed worries over Attorney General Michael Mukasey’s refusal to say waterboarding is torture, saying “One man’s torture is another man’s CIA’s sponsored swim lesson.” Watch it at link~

As Steve Benen notes, earlier in the interview, Marsden claimed that history would look kindly on President Bush in the same way it had vindicated Joseph McCarthy.

if anybody had mated with her, at least.

After all, learning to swim is important for kids.

2. Good God another Coulter wannabe
I think every time some talking point idiot makes a remark about water boarding not being torture, the network ought to rush a team of waterboarders in, give the talker a personal demonstration and then ask the question again.

16. well
Ann Coulter did write a book in praise of Joe McCarthy. So, that must how he was completely vindicated, through the writings of Ms. Coulter.

6. All these Pukes that keep defending waterboarding need to try it.
Rather, they need to experience it for themselves -- on the receiving end.

What is it about these bastards that makes them WANT to torture?

8. Can we sign them up for some free swimming lessons?
They seem to have so little regard for other people's basic human rights and life.

17. It already does
It's part of SERE training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape).

To me, torture is much like the death penalty - there are people and circumstances where it doesn't bother me, but I suspect that when the government is allowed to do it, their use of it will be capricious, arbitrary and far beyond what we intend.

11. Marsden should submit to being
"waterboarded" herself. Then her parents and her children too. And it should be done by someone with experience from Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo, not someone from CNN.

How delusional can any one person be unless they are taking something?

I think we should give Mrs. Marsden a swim lesson! Maybe a history lesson too.

15. LOL! Marsden the stalker being given ANY credibility is laughable!
This woman is certifiably nuts and has been convicted of stalking more than one man. For CNN to use her is further proof, not that it's needed, the network is nothing but a laughingstock, imo.

Here is a link that outlines Ms. Marsden's "history":

19. So sign your kids up
for these CIA sponsored swim lessons. I'm sure they'll be grateful to learn how to swim under the tutelage of the CIA. :eyes:

My kids probably think I was a crappy parent because I just had them take regular swim lessons, not the enhanced CIA variety.
