Ruling by Fiat.. or decree
Edited on Fri Nov-02-07 01:19 AM by nadinbrzezinski
well little boots has found out that our very disfunctional congress is actually putting up a fight... not as good as I'd like, but enough to annoy little boots

So as predictable as in any other closing society... little boots has decided to rule by Decree.

If it has not dawned on folks this is yet another marker on the damn road to a totalitarian state.

Damn, today we had two

On the bright side... one congress woman is fighting back and she needs our help.

So I sugest tomorrow morning you do two things

you call your congresscritters and tell them, yes... put the mercs out of business.

The second... call your senators and tell them to kibush Mukasey.

1. The Dem. are doing their job in Congress and so are the GOP
This is how Congress is to run. If the people want more things their way they just have to put in more people who think like them. This President and his signing statements seems to be a new way to be pres. A President that must feel he is better than the law or his own law.I do not want a AG that thinks the Pres. should have more power and more power then Congress. I do think the Constitutions and Fed. Papers say Congress is the most powerful as they are the peoples house. The Pres. is to carry out the laws of the land which the House puts in unless the Courts say they are not in line with the Constitutions. I do not know where Bush gets that he is a King and makes his own rules. We had a King George and did not like him.

2. I hate to point this out but rulling by decree IS a marker
of an authoritarian state

I also hate to point this out, but both the House and the Senate are disfuctional, in ways reminiscent of both Germany and Italy

If they were not, fear would not force them to pass things like oh FISA

3. Well hell I do not like these weak Dem. either but we put them in.
If Congress does what the President wants and the people keep those people in power we have got what we asked for. Frankly I think that the weak Dem. and GOP are selling us out. They have no guts to do a thing this President does not like. I can not figure it out but some are OK. Some stick to what we want but not enough to carry things over a veto and 'God Bush' is going to have his way. It is like he is black mailing them. We do this every so many years or so history tells. I wonder that this endless around and around we go does not ring a bell with us more but I swear we never learn from it and I guess we never will. One gets the feeling every thing is coming apart but I am sure my father and mother would have said the same in the late 1920's. I was born in the early 30's and I think this is the worst of times for my way of thinking for the working people of this country. Like a 75 year of back to the bad times and one hardly sees a way out. I am on the whole an up-beat person but I must say I see bad days a head for my children and grandchildren. One hoped times would get better but I just have this feeling that some thing is in the wind and will all land on us and Bush has put it into full speed. A bad President and man for bad times.

4. We are on the brink...
Just a little more xenophobia stirred up amongst the frightened masses, and they will acquiesce to anything. When Real ID passes we'll be truly fucked (we're already halfway there).
