I was listening to Fresh Air on my way home. They had a defense attorney for the Guantanamo detainees and followed him up with a braying jackass who was the lead counsel for the government in Guantanamo.
I'm sure you'll be happy to know that the detainees know they have the right to contact legal counsel and that 300 of them have exercised their rights for a total of an estimated 1100 arranged visits. Of course, if you start to slice and dice what he said, the visits were arranged whether they took place was not entirely clear and the fact that if all the visits took place that averages out to whopping 3.666666 visits per detainee. That many visits should certainly guarantee that they have full access to their rights, right?
Also, I'm sure you'll be happy to know that we need to get ourselves straightened out and blah, blah, blah or the next time al Qaeda attacks it will be all our fault, not his.
I listened and thought "Who is this jackass?"
