CBS Boston: Millions Of Americans With Kucinich On UFO Belief
Wouldn't it be great if the UFO question gives Mr. Kucinich a quantum boost?

Oh. The irony.

Millions Of Americans With Kucinich On UFO Belief

BOSTON (CBS) ― Do you believe in unidentified flying objects -- UFOs? A third of Americans do. One in seven claims to have seen one.

And that group includes a presidential candidate.

A lot of voters might find this the most believable claim they've heard in this race.

But while politicians may laugh at UFO sightings, millions of Americans apparently aren't in on the joke. 34 percent of Americans say they believe in ghosts, according to a pre-Halloween poll by The Associated Press and Ipsos. That's the same proportion who believe in unidentified flying objects - or UFOs- exceeding the 19 percent who accept the existence of spells or witchcraft.

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich said he has seen a UFO, and he points out that, in more ways than one, he is not alone.

"You have to keep in mind that Jimmy Carter saw a UFO and also that more people in this country have seen UFOs than I think approve of George Bush's presidency," Kucinich said.

Despite millions believing in UFOs, this may have been a source of amusement for the political elites Tuesday night.

15. Kucinich called Smirko crazy. So, Timmy has to ''level'' the public playing field.
Some problems arose when Dennis questioned the crazy monkey's brain over its World War III musings.

Kucinich Questions Bush's Mental Health

AP
Posted: 2007-10-30 15:30:30

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich questioned President Bush's mental health in light of comments he made about a nuclear Iran precipitating World War III.

"I seriously believe we have to start asking questions about his mental health," Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, said in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer's editorial board on Tuesday. "There's something wrong. He does not seem to understand his words have real impact."

Kucinich, known for his liberal views, trails far behind the leading candidates in most Democratic polls. He was in Philadelphia for a debate at Drexel University.

Bush made the remarks at a news conference earlier this month.

He said: "I've told people that if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them (Iran) from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon."

Kucinich said he doesn't believe his comments about the president's mental health are irresponsible, according to a story posted on the newspaper's Web site.

2. I've had a passive interest in the subject since 1989 when I saw a UFO..
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 05:45 PM by tridim
But since Tuesday night I've been much more active on the subject. Some UFO quotes that I've since read from astronauts and NASA people are stunning, especially this one:

"At no time, when the astronauts were in space were they alone: there was a constant surveillance by UFOs."
--NASA's Scott Carpenter

And the others:

I believe, and I scientifically am certain, that there are endless other living forms out there, including intelligent sentient beings. I do know that there are entire universes of living forms out there.
--Dr.Story Musgrave NASA scientist-astronaut

"I believe that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets which obviously are a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth." --Colonel L. Gordon Cooper (Mercury 9, Gemini-5 Astronaut)

"Mission control, We have a UFO pacing our position, request instructions!"
-- Astronaut Cady Coleman NASAtransmission shuttle mission STS-73

"I've been asked about UFO's and I've said publicly I thought they were somebody else, some other civilization."
--Commander Eugene Cernan, Commanded the Apollo 17 Mission. (LA TIMES, 1973)

"We have contact with alien cultures."
--Astronaut Dr. Brian O'leary

"In my official status, I cannot comment on ET contact. However, personally, I can assure you, we are not alone!
--Charles J. Camarda (Ph.D.) NASA Astronaut

"UFO sightings are now so common, the military doesn't have time to worry about them - so they screen them out. The major defense systems have UFO filters built into them, and when a UFO appears, they simply ignore it."
--Lee Katchen (former atmospheric physicist with NASA)

We all know that UFOs are real. All we need to ask is where do they come from, and what do they want?"
--Apollo 14 Astronaut Capt. Edgar Mitchell

"All Apollo and Gemini flights were followed, both at a distance and sometimes also quite closely, by space vehicles of extraterrestrial origin - flying saucers, or UFOs, if you want to call them by that name. Every time it occurred, the astronauts informed Mission Control, who then ordered absolute silence."
--Maurice Chatelain, former chief of NASA Communications Systems.

"At no time, when the astronauts were in space were they alone: there was a constant surveillance by UFOs."
--NASA's Scott Carpenter

When asked if he believed that UFO's were real;"Yes as a matter of fact I do." He was also asked if he had ever seen a UFO and he said he had, on his Gemini mission. He went on to say that he tried to take a picture of it, but it did not come out.
--Brigadier Gen. James Mc Divitt command pilot of the Gemini space craft. (This interview can be seen on a video tape called Beyond Belief, from United Entertainment, Inc. 1986.)

On May 11, 1962 NASA pilot Joseph Walker said that one of his tasks was to detect UFOs during his X-15 flights. He had filmed five or six UFOs during his record breaking fifty-mile-high flight in April, 1962. It was the second time he had filmed UFOs in flight. To date none of those films has been released to the public for viewing. During a lecture at the Second National Conference on the Peaceful Uses of Space Research in Seattle, Washington, he stated:

"I don't feel like speculating about them. All I know is what appeared on the film which was developed after the flight."
-- NASA Pilot Joseph A. Walker

"The evidence points to the fact that Roswell was a real incident and that indeed an alien craft did crash, and that material was recovered from that site. We all know that UFOs are real. All we need to ask is where do they come from, and what do they want?"
--Capt. Edgar Mitchell Apollo 14 Astronaut

"I was testing a P-51 fighter in Minneapolis when I spotted this object. I was at about 10,000 feet on a nice, bright, sunny afternoon. I thought the object was a kite, then I realized that no kite is gonna fly that high." As I got closer it looked like a weather balloon, gray and about three feet in diameter. But as soon as I got behind the darn thing it didn't look like a balloon anymore. It looked like a saucer, a disk. About the same time, I realized that it was suddenly going away from me -- and there I was, running at about 300 miles per hour. I tracked it for a little way, and then all of a sudden the damn thing just took off. It pulled about a 45 degree climbing turn and accelerated and just flat disappeared."
--Mercury Astronaut Capt. Donald Slayton

Looks like GE's little hit job on Dennis might have backfired.

14. Well, I don't see many "kooks looking for their 15 minutes of fame" on that
list of quotes.

How can people possibly believe we know more than these credible observers? How are these statements explained?

This needs to be sent to Russert and any other media outlet that is besmirching Dennis as a result of this.

3. How can they make fun of Kunich for saying he saw an unidentified object
He didn't say it was a space ship. He said he could not tell what it was. And that is what is so damn asinine about the press. Instead of telling the subject like it is said the clip and cut to make it sound as if he is balmy. Lots of Americans, with very good observation powers has seen an unidentified object. Does this make them all crazy. I think the nuts that make a big deal out of this are the crazies.

10. Devolution
We have a leader who thinks it is not crazy to be waging war over dinosaur fuel because God said so. His 'base' believes carbon dating is a test of faith that the Earth is really 6000 years old.
What year is this? We need a president who actually lives and understands 21st century concepts, technology, energy needs, can communicate in at least English and is good in stressful situations. Someone not afraid to tell the truth 'I saw an unidentified triangular craft'. Seems sane to me.
Ironically it is time for an evolved leader.
My brain is too twisted tonight--time for a glass of port.

11. I think UFO's are much more plausible than God.
Perhaps Tim Russert should have asked how many believe in God?

Or he could have asked how many believe that life outside of Earth exists? In the galaxy? In the universe? Whether intelligent life could travel to Earth seems unlikely given the vast distances, but much more likely than God. But God is our accepted universal neurosis, our national delusion.

Also, unexplained flying objects don't have to be carrying extraterrestrials. I bet that object in the truck window above is a hub cap. Then again, it just might be ...

12. If you have not observed an unidentified flying object, you never look up at night.
If the sky is clear where you are tonight, and the sky is not obscured by city or suburban lights, you WILL see an unidentified flying object.

24. This is what happens when the most important postion on the planet
is judged by answering questions in a 30 second sound byte. Personally, I think most UFOs people see are misinterpretations, but I also think the military loves the UFO story because it acts as a cover for their top secret testing. Are we developing wing fighters? No, you must have seen a UFO.
