Bush compares Democrats to those who ignored Hitler
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-11-01-bushdemocrats_N.htm?csp=34

Congressional Democrats have not learned the lessons of history in dealing with the threat of terrorism, President Bush said Thursday in pressing for action on several fronts.

"(Osama) bin Laden and his terrorist allies have made their intentions as clear as Lenin and Hitler before them," Bush said during a speech at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. "And the question is, will we listen?"

Bush made the speech as he continues to press Congress to act on what he says are essential parts of the war against terrorism: the confirmation of Michael Mukasey as attorney general; the extension of a measure that allows warrant-free eavesdropping; and several spending bills, including one for the Iraq war.

He said the speech was not "political rhetoric" or "an attempt to scare people into votes."

"Politicians who believe we are not at war are either being disingenuous or naive," Bush said. "Either way, it is dangerous for our country."

3. In a roundabout fashion, he's right.
The jug-eared little prick has embarked on an un-democratic, un-American, and hitherto unprecedented power grab, while Congressional Dems have stood idly by and watched.

8. Oddly enough I compare Democrats to those who ignored Hitler too.
Kind of like the opposition parties in Germany between the time of Hitler's appointment as chancellor and the abolition and arrest of those same opposition parties.

What a coincidence.

49. The phrase "Vichy Democrats"
pops into my head, from time to time.

What good is it to "hold on to power", when you are in fact enabling torture, agressive preemtive war, destruction of civil liberties and the Bill of Rights, falsified elections, the scapegoating and dehumanization of an entire section of the human species and a spiraling escalation of the glorifiaction of violence, lies, brutality and a culture of absolute power which considers itself its own justification?

Would be nice to see more actual opposition from the Dems.

46. Exactly.
Faint hearts often pretend such threats are less than they appear - when they're almost always greater.

After all, what's easier? Doing something or believing something?
Our ability to rationalize our own cowardice is almost boundless.

17. After just listening to Naomi Wolf on Randi Rhodes, Bush is, in a way,
right. Of course, he's not letting on that HE is the Lenin/Hitler of our day, but some of us DO get it. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't, including many Democratic members of Congress.

I'm sorely tempted to send the audio of Wolf's interview to all of them, and demand they listen. There is something very, very wrong going on in this country, and they need to know it.

And, he was allied with other powerful industrial countries. Osama bin Laden is sitting in a cave with a cell phone. The real difference is that we had Franklin Delano Roosevelt to lead the country against hitler. All we have is junior running his mouth.
