Bush Stomps His Feet

By Dan Froomkin

President Bush went before the television cameras yesterday to rail at Congressional Democrats, who he said are "going alone and going nowhere."
.........

Just a lot of political posturing, right?

Well, maybe not. It's increasingly looking like Bush's petulance is not just for show.

Apparently, a year of dealing with a Democratic Congress -- even one as supine as this one -- has profoundly upset him. And he may have given up on reaching any accommodation with them at all.

Michael Abramowitz and Jonathan Weisman write in The Washington Post: "The White House plans to try implementing as much new policy as it can by administrative order while stepping up its confrontational rhetoric with Congress after concluding that President Bush cannot do much business with the Democratic leadership, administration officials said. . . .

...........

"Bush himself has been complaining more and more bitterly about congressional Democrats in recent weeks."

5. When you have a president who was born w/ a silver spoon in his mouth
This is what you will get. They have an entitlement mentality because they became successful, not through their own talent and hard work, but rather, due to family last name and connections.

26. Most U.S. presidents have come from wealth and privilege. Chimpy is unique.
Chimpy is a more extreme example of narcissistic personality disorder or whatever is the matter with him than anyone else who has held the presidency.

I think that the fact that he was appointed president - twice - is a symptom of how deeply unwell this nation is. He is a symptom of our malaise, not the root cause.

God only knows. But IMPEACHMENT is looking more and more like a necessity rather than simply another option.

16. Such is part of the 'do-nothing', 'obstructionists' excuse to further expand executive power
Bush has also gone back to spewing how he just worked so well with Democrats in Texas...and how he thought he could do the same in DC

It's the - I'm the bi-partisan,working across the aisle' guy - bullshit he used during the 2000 election cycle and the 2004 election cycle...now it's more about his legacy and using the talking point to expand executive power

17. Not to go all Freudian and everything, but....
....often how we characterize others is really an accurate reflection of our own views -- about ourselves. Bush said that Congress was: "going alone and going nowhere."

-
I think that decribes his circumstances quite well. The little twit....

22. "President Bush cannot do much business with the Democratic leadership..."
That's surprising. They seem quite willing to do his bidding lately, at least as concerns the fait accompli of the Iraq occupation. His tax cuts don't seem to be endangered, either.

with a REAL Democratic Congress. Lyndon Johnson would have buried him. He's damned lucky he got this batch of spineless, quivering jelly fish.

28. evidently not -- look at how he felt about Canadian leaders
He didn't like Jean Chretien, for being too assertive (Chretien refused to join his Iraq invasion). Then when pro-business Paul Martin took over, Bush soured on him pretty quickly. Then the Conservative Stephen Harper got in, and what did Bush do but start picking fights with him over Arctic sovereignty. (And Harper is as pro-Bush as they get up here -- Alberta oil booster, etc.)

No matter how spineless and grovelling one is, it will NEVER be enough for Bush. He will always find something to whine about. Might as well stand up to him, because he's going to take it out on you eventually -- so you may as well keep your dignity intact and say no!
