My only concern with Clinton as President....
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 11:11 AM by Roxy66
Simply....that she will over-compensate to appear "Tough", in her attempt to overcome the "weak woman" label. I actually like her alot...but her vote to label the Revolutionary Guard in Iran as a Terrorist organization is a clear sign she is trying to come across as "strong" and "tough" on terror. This worries me. The Republicans will spend four years driving her towards aggressiveness with Muslim nations and to preserve her second term she will have to bend in that direction. The Media will not help with this either.....they love a good bashing and will join in or lead the way at every opportunity....Chris Matthews is loving this last licenses of illegals thing. He is frothing at the mouth over it...it makes me sick. But this is the reality we live in today.

1. I think what you say is true
of any newly elected President dealing with a war hungry Repug Party and a greedy, news hungry Press. It isn't limited to just gender alone.

5. Truly strong people do not make unnecessary threats.
Iraq was never a threat to us, and she voted to 'scare' Iraq into compliance. Bush used that vote to start a war. Iran is no threat to us, and she voted to 'scare' Iran into compliance.

See a pattern?

4. I agree
I heard some female caller on cspan say that all of the men were beating up on hillary at the debate and they didn't think that that was fair. I also heard that the campaign likes this because it stimulates her base but, I think that the CONS will say if she can't face these men then how will she fight against the terrorists or something along these lines... I like Hillary but,I have been looking at all of the candidates...

6. I have more concerns than that
Although the word 'concern' is not popular here.
I think she is the candidate most likely to lose. Polls show her beating Giuliani, but do they take into account the electoral college? Is she gonna win in Iowa, Missouri, or Ohio? She needs to win some states that Kerry and Gore did not. Which states are those?

Secondly, I think she could flip the house and senate. She's certainly not gonna help my local congresswoman. We won here in 2006 because of low Republican turn out. If Republicans get fired up to defeat Hillary (which they will in Kansas no matter what) they may vote Republican all the way down the ticket. We could even lose some of our seats in the legislature.

Third, I expect her to promote DLC people all through the party, to head the DNC, to head the DCCC, and to run for Congress and the Senate. That means a Democratic party that is more conservative at least on economic issues.

Fourth, I expect her to parrot alot of Rightwing rhetoric. This has been the Clinton way since he came on the national scene. Instead of opposing cuts in social spending - Clinton PROMOTES a balanced budget. Instead of opposing Republican anti-government rhetoric, Clinton trumpets "the era of big government is over". Instead of opposing trade agreements that don't protect workers rights or the environment, Clinton PROMOTES them. Welfare reform. A pardon for Marc Rich, but not Leonard Peltier. Clinton is hardly a cutting-edge progressive, not from the Wellstone wing of the Democratic party. Often Clinton 'defeated' Republicans in some ju jitsu way by becoming a Republican. That's the way I remember the 1990s. A very frustrating time, and not economically prosperous for me either.

7. Why Can't She Do Barbara Lee's Version of Tough?
Nobody calls Barbara Lee "weak"!
