1. I would vote for that ticket either way JB/CH or CH/JB
More knowledge, experience, common sense in those two than the rest of the fields combined.

2. Apparently he does this every year. He's done McCain and Colin Powell--
now, how would he pull off Powell? Without being offensive, at least--LOL!

18. Well, half of it, anyway
Hagel, despite being right on the war, is wrong on just about everything else.

9. Anybody else thinking it's interesting that he's done this for a Democrat? I know
they're friends, but is that 'politically correct'? Does is MEAN anything? (I'm hoping here, as I'm sure you can tell.)

12. Hagel: GOP Has Won 2 Elections On Fear And Terrorism & Will Try Again" - - Is Hagel for Biden?. . .

GOP Senator Hagel: "The Republican Party Has Won Two Elections On Fear And Terrorism... & It's Going To Try Again"

Think Progress:Hagel Suggests Possibility Of Bush Impeachment: ‘He’s Not Accountable Anymore’

. . . . . http://thinkprogress.org/2007/03/06/hagel-impeachment/

Hagel is retiring, running neither for president nor Senate.

He was considered an ally of McCain back in the days when McCain was considered a maverick, but has split with him on Iraq. Admiration for Powell & Biden, (and other Democrats) is consistent with Hagel's positions. Before Iraq was an issue, Hagel supported McCain's presidential candidacy. Hagel may well have supported Powell, had he chosen to run. He has not made this kind of joke regarding anyone whom he has not been willing to support, or actually did support, for president.... Is Hagel coming out for Biden?

Why would a retiring Republican, repulsed by his party, be making statements about IMPEACHMENT and about HOW THE GOP PLANS TO RUN ON "FEAR & TERRORISM" (yet) AGAIN?

It's obvious Hagel is diametrically opposed to the foreign policy of ALL of the GOP candidates, save one (& Paul has not the slightest chance of receiving the GOP nomination, but could run as libertarian, or otherwise).

How could Hagel support the GOP ticket in 2008?

Can he even stand to keep his mouth shut?

The rumors of "Bloomberg/Hagel" seem to be headed nowhere.

Hagel is smart, and may well realize the destructive, and counterproductive, effect of a third party candidacy.

Will Chuck Hagel support Joe Biden, or whoever the Democratic nominee is?

13. Bill Maher tried to pin him down on whether he'd support the Dem nominee--
Hagel said he'd have to see who the nominees are, which is pretty telling--what Repub Senator would ever acknowledge the possibility of voting for the Democrat? So he's pretty far gone. However, I'll bet he won't endorse--he's unemployed after December 2008, and would probably appreciate a job with the next administration, whoever wins.

14. Hagel's chance of a job in a Giuliani or Romney administration (or ANY GOP administration) are zero.
Edited on Thu Nov-01-07 05:49 PM by charles t

(perhaps "... approach zero" would be less hyperbolic.)

16. On the video of this when Hagel says "Biden for President!" Biden said, -- tell
you what - Hagel for Vice President!

Joking around aside, if a situation like that were to arise -- would the republican have to switch parties -- or is it possible to have a Dem prez and a Rep VP?

Just continuing my civics lesson - thanks.
