Bush defends (kinda) AG pick
President Bush, seeking to salvage the nomination of Michael Mukasey as attorney general, on Thursday defended the former judge's refusal to say whether he considers waterboarding as illegal torture.
Bush said it was unfair to ask Mukasey about interrogation techniques on which he has not been briefed. "He doesn't know whether we use that technique or not," the president told a group of reporters invited into the Oval Office.

Let me get this straight the new AG doesn't know what water boarding is. Given the amount of press coverage this and the whole torture issue has had the last 5 years... shouldn't every intelligent American have an idea what this is. Particularly those involved in law enforcement. So Bush is defense is his AG pick is dumber than a box of hammers.

1. It should not matter whether he knows whether they use the
"technique" or not. He should know it is torture, and therefore illegal. He doesn't need to be briefed on it. But, I say, to let him get the best briefing possible...strap him down, put cellophane over his face, and start pouring the water. He will then be in the best position to answer the question of whether or not it's torture.

How big of a dumbass can one be not to know the answer to that question?

2. BUSHCO painted in to a corner of their own making
If Mukasey says yes, waterboarding is indeed torture, then, as Attorney General, he has the duty to prosecute those that have been doing it.

Bush probably authorized waterboarding as "legal" minutes after being sworn in January 2001, so Mukasey would unearth a whole box o' traitors right inside the white House!

Therefore, those that approve Mukasey's nomination support torture by the United States Government!

3. So far Bush has picked for his Attorney General
Alberto Gonzales and Michael Mukasey.... does that tell anyone anything?
Gonzales was one of the master minds behind the "this is not torture" questions and answers (so we no longer support the Geneva Convention) and Mukasey is following in Gonzales, Bush/Cheney footsteps...anyone (but us dirty voting public and two Vermont Senators) paying attention out there?
