"Can't Democrats have a sex scandal?
It's always Republicans. It's always gay Republicans. It's always gay Republicans who voted against gay marriage."

Morning Joe 'Proud Republican' Scarborough just said this.

I normally turn Joe off. Glad I heard this just now before I turned the channel.

1. Hey, they had their field day with Bill Clinton
Now that the tables have turned, they don't like it at all. Serves 'em right!

3. No they can't for a very simple reason
The Dems do not run around condemning same sex relationships. So a Dem having a same sex relationship would not be a scandal unless they were already in a relationship with someone else. And in that case it would be an infidelity issue and not a same sex relationship issue.

Its not the same sex relationship that gets the repugs in trouble. Its the hypocrisy.

6. (Insert snort of derision here)
Clearly, you have not been listening to the "front runner" Presidential candidates. Sure they don't condemn same sex relationships. Until we demand full and equal rights before the law, and then they are perfectly content to bitch-slap us, order us to shut up, tell us to pay attention to real issues and who are we going to vote for if we don't like it, the Republickers?

A very large number of people here on DU are exactly the same.

:eyes:

7. I suppose I should have added the words "in theory"
I agree. As a member of a minority group that gets abandoned quicker than the gays and lesbians I have to acknowledge that politically they will turn their back on you in a flash for a few votes. If gays and lesbians represent 10% of the population and atheists/agnostics/nonreligious represent 15% of the population you would think we could find a way to grab their attention and demand that they respect us. Even if we include overlap collectively we represent somewhere around 24% of the population. Nearly one forth of the votes comes from a nontheist or a homosexual. It is time respect was paid where it is due.

9. those are not mutually exclusive BUT....
A religious gay is NOT going to relate to atheists very well. You make the great and common mistake of implying that 'gay' means different in ALL things. Wrong, the gays I have known have spanned the spectrum from near KKKers to Shirley McClaine tinkerbells. I am of the a theist persuasion myself, and not gay so will leave further expansion of this to those with more direct knowledge...but I have little doubt I am correct on this one.

10. They don't have to match up lock step
But there is likely to be a common bond of demanding tolerance and acceptance.

8. Its impossible for democrats to have sex scandals
in the eyes of conservatives (unless of course they are hypocrites.)

In their muddled minds, all liberals and democrats are godless heathens who fornicate in every which way with whomever is available. There is only one way a conservative can claim a democrat has/had a sex scandal, if they don't really believe what they believe. How could it be a scandal if one does what one is expected of him/her? In other words the holier then thou trash have painted themselves into a very tight men's room stall.
