It's Nov. 1 and I've already seen Christmas/Holiday
decorations going up.

At the 24 hour Walgreens, across from the row of 50 percent off Halloween candy and costumes, workers were puting out lights, fake Christmas trees, decorations, cards, wrapping paper, etc.

Where did the year go?

1. One of the major department stores in South Bend, IN had decorations up in September!
I understand (kind of) the craft stores having the crap up that early, but department stores?

2. At the Target here, the staff spends Halloween night
'turning over' the store. Putting all the Halloween stuff on clearance and setting up the Christmas stuff.

It's crazy. No room for Thanksgiving at all. Which bothers me because it's my favorite holiday.

5. that bugs my husband as well
he says "they skip over Thanksgiving to get to Christmas". Now my mom does decorate for thanksgiving with Pilgrims and fall things, and a couple of stores in my area(meijers and tj maxx) have had thanksgiving decorations for sale.

7. Not enough money to be made at Thanksgiving
Unless you sell turkeys or cranberries. :D

No one has figured out how to make a wad of cash off Thanksgiving. When retailers find a way to do that, THEN it won't be skipped over.

4. I don't know where the year went,
but I figure if the retailers try hard enough, in a few years we'll be seeing the Christmas items go up the day after the 4th of July.

I'm old enough to remember when the Christmas season didn't start until at LEAST after Thanksgiving.

15. Yesterday, Mr. Tesha said that "the Christmas season should begin..."
Yesterday, Mr. Tesha said that "the Christmas
season should begin when Santa arrives at Macy's
at the end of the Thanksgiving "Macy's Day"
parade".

And I, for one agree with him. By our lights,
the local retailers are running about two
months "fast".

13. Yikes!
That shouldn't happen until the week before Christmas.....It's probably some coordinated corporate effort to get people into stores because they know holiday sales will be disastrous this year.
