9. They are. But it's a long story.
Fred wanted to run for office and the incumbant was a Republican. He ran as a Dem and lost. The Right Wing takes that and runs miles and miles with it.

5. Not just sue but win.
They're a family of lawyers, after all, for precisely this reason. Maybe the only way they will stop is if they're told "Fine, exercise your First Amendment right to protest, but it's going to cost you millions of dollars every time you do."

10. They are well represented in the legal and medical fields.
and you can extrapolate that to politics and the drug industry.

If there's a buck to be made, legal or otherwise, you can bet they will be there.

7. Take a look at the history of the Southern Poverty Law Center
Back before they were the org they are today they were a small group trying to do good by fighting racist supremacist groups. A Neo Nazi group targeted them for harassment. The SPLC turned around and sued them and was awarded $12 Million. When the group could not pay the judge awarded the SPLC whatever money they could dig up plus the groups headquarters which the SPLC turned into a museum dedicated to tolerance.

12. Minor correction: the tort was not "protesting," it was Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
Protest is a protected activity. Harassment of a grieving family is not.
