1. Nigerian Banking Scam

By another name. Or (take your pick) money-laundering for drug dealers; money-laundering for gun-runners; money-laundering for check thieves; money-laundering for the Mob; money-laundering for . . . well, you get the idea.

I actually know someone who fell for this scam. He now has a judgment against him from a California bank, for passing forged checks, for $350,000.

3. Usually the scam is you are working for them and cash fake checks

at your bank, take your cut and send on the remainder to the one who hired you. So, I am dense, here - they are lending you money - so where is the scam?

2. The sad thing is it doesn't take a lot to realize these are scams

buildtraffic.com is a Rhode Island-based internet marketing business, yet this guy claims to be in London and even provides a UK number. Meanwhile his English sucks, be it American or the Queen's -- always a big giveaway when a self-proclaimed professional can't spell or use punctuation and grammar correctly.

It's really hard to believe people fall for this crap but they do.
