The man who owned the KC Royals must have loved Halloween
When I was a kid we didn't live too far from his house and he gave out the neatest stuff. Royals jackets and mitts and official baseballs with the Royals seal on them and banners and baseball cards and all the neat souvenir stuff they sell in the stadium at the gift shop.

As soon as school was out on Halloween, the line would form in front of this house and some of the kids didn't even have costumes on. They just wanted their Royals Halloween treat.

And back then, the Royals were a decent baseball team so getting this stuff for free was pretty cool for a kid.

Anyway, I think of this every Halloween and smile at the memory.

Thank you Mr Kaufman. You made Halloween a great holiday for the kids in your neighborhood.

2. The first couple years, Mr Kaufman himself gave out the treats
Can you imagine George Steinbrenner standing on his front steps and handing out Yankees souvenirs on Halloween?

5. wow, that's awesome
Mr. Kaufman was a wonderful man. The guy that owns them now is a real scab of a human being.

7. I like this story.
Kaufman Stadium is a beautiful stadium, I think, in its own way, and I'm glad to hear this story about the man.

9. If I'm correct, the Royals are now owned by David Glass, co-founder of sprawl mart.
