How to win an election when the chips are down. From GOP playbook.
1. Own the media (done)

2. Own the voting machines (done)

3. Purposely bias polls, and use the media to convince people that the vote is legitimate. (done)

4. When things are really looking bad resort to "Plan B".

Bad is defined as:

The general populace has really had enough of your bullshit

Democrats have finally caught on that you actually have rigged the voting machines

Plan B:

Announce far ahead of time that the voting machines are rigged, and if you lose, it is because the democrats have rigged the vote. Say this a lot (with the help of the media), so it appears that the democrats are in control of the voting machines. (in process)

Just before the elections, heighten the terror alert, or drag out some scapegoat of a plot to put in the news.

Rig the election as usual, and the media pundits will rationalize for you how security concerns changed voter choices in the final days (the best part is the pundits will be unwitting participants, they don't even need to know the real truth)

The democrats will not be able to claim the vote was rigged, because it now appears that if anyone could rig the vote, it was the democrats (see step 1 of Plan B)

How do we "defuse" Plan B? The democrats need to start speaking up now, and loudly about who owns the voting machine companies, and the linkages to the GOP.

Pack the Democratic Party with corporatists then join the Democrats in denouncing the Republican Party.

The Democratic Party wins by a landslide in 2008.

You now have an effective one-party system with your people in charge.

Checkmate.

5. How to lose an election when the chips are up, from the real-life playbook...
Excoriate and demonize gays in public, then try to stop hitting on them. In public.
Fuck them, it's almost a shame they were taught to breathe in school.

6. This Elections Are For The Democrats To Lose
For 70% of this country the GOOP is a disaster with no real platform other than war and more class warefare. All of them have the blood of boooshie's war on their hands as well as voting against health care for the young or elderly and corrupt as the day is long. But Democrats can't just sit back and assume that this discontent means wins at the polls next year.

One saving grace is that more states in '08 will be under Democratic control...it's Democrats who run those machines in Ohio next year, not Ken Blackwell. Voter caging has been not only identified but pinpointed so that we know where to watch and what to watch for. Rigged machines didn't hurt Democrats in '06 and it shouldn't in '08 if Democrats give people reasons to vote for Democrats.

The big difference is the credibility of both the Repugnicans and the corporate media are at all-time lows. Any stunts to scare or intimidate voters won't hunt this time. However, people do want change and Democrats need to offer that change not only in words but in deeds. Their actions next year in the House & Senate will speak to how well they realize this.

7. you forgot somethings--
depress wages - so the population is working so hard they can't pay attention to elections

increase medical costs, and decrease availability - so the general population is afraid to complain about 50 hour work weeks

Decrease investment in infrastructure - make sure people are commenting a couple of hours on top of a 9 or 10 hour day

PUSH THE TAX BURDEN DOWN ON THE MIDDLE CLASS - Step one in killing those socialist programs like social security, medicare and the public schools.

Own the media so when anyone complains about this stuff, the right wing noise machine can start marching around in circles telling us to be ashamed because we want "entitlements", and we are for "welfare".
