Big Raise for Olbermann at MSNBC????
Sure sounds like it:

Keith Olbermann is re-upping with MSNBC, TVNewser has learned.

His contract negotiations apparently went well (maybe the alleged interest from CNN helped).

In December B&C said Olbermann wanted "north of $4 million" from NBC Universal, up from his current salary of roughly $1 million

Yay Keith!!!

He's the only TV news guy that actually deserves a raise.

6. Good. I guess that means he's not going anywhere soon.
I remember talk of, hell, I thought myself at times, that his show would be cancelled because he was "too hard" on the bush regime. Guess this means he ain't goin' nowhere anytime soon. Yeah!!!!

And I wonder - if KO can get that kind of money, probably the result of a bidding war between CNN and MSNBC, maybe some of the other media types will see this and rethink their role as stenographer for bushco.

11. just might be part of both Scarborough's and Matthews drift
of late away from rubber-stamp land. Joe in particular is really starting to appeal to me. As they've seen Keith's audience reaction - as well as probably just admiring someone with guts - it has to have affected them some

18. Scarborough in particular has to go further left or go on unemployment.
The bigger Keith's audience gets, the less tolerant MSNBC will become of Scarborough being unable to hold onto it. And since last Election Day, even Tweety's been feeling Keith's heat!

In the discussions about the feud with orally. Made reference to Keith "signing that fat contract" (adding "well deserved")

I imagine the number of viewers takes a significant dip after Olbermann goes off.

40. They do indeed. He does not sustain the lead-in.
Mediabistro.com has ratings rundowns on a regular basis. Keith CONSISTENTLY outrates everybody else on MSNBC. EVERYBODY. Substantially so. And the numbers drop when Scarborough comes on. BTW - tucker's ratings often can't even be found with a magnifying glass. I'm surprised the obnoxious little snot nose is still on there. JUST WHO invited him, ANYWAY??? Is he some fatcat's kid or something? And yes, I wondered that even back when he was doing "Crossfire." Who the hell invited him, anyway? How did he rate a show?

27. That's right.
KO owes DU some love for sticking up for him via emails, calls, etc to MSNBC. I do remember when there was talk about cancelling his show, and DU bombarded the network with fan mail.

19. I hope it wasn't
the images on KO's baseball card with Mickey Mantle and GWB photoshopped in.

Only KO would catch this stuff, in addition to having the guts to call it like he sees it, and the intelligence to really see it.

I wish him the very best, and I think that Matthews and Scarborough come in for their share of praise for not being simple corporate media shills, and for really letting their own sincere personal perspectives inform how the story that's served up by the military-infotainment complex is portrayed on their broadcasts.

Every word spitten out his mouth during Special Comments were made of pure gold. Wonder if he's making more than Tweety? That could cause a lot of friction!

35. Ovaries are nads, too
Regardless of gender, gonads produce the gametes which are what fuse to form a new organism. In humans, ovaries and testicles are the gonads; the eggs and sperm they produce are the gametes.
