these assholes is deserving of keeping their seat.

5. you can always go to Senate.gov to check roll call votes
I was also bummed that three Dems failed to show for the vote. That would have been enough to sustain a filibuster.

Compare them to my "list" of Democratic jerks who vote with the pukes on big issues most of the time.

Cantwell (Washington) DLC 48.27586207
Stabenow (Michigan) DLC 46.55172414
Kohl (Wisconsin) DLC 44.82758621
*Feinstein (California) DLC 44.82758621
*Leiberman (Connecticut) DLC 44.82758621
Rockefeller (West Virginia) 41.37931034
*Conrad (North Dakota) DLC 41.37931034
Baucus (Montana) DLC 39.65517241
Carper (Deleware) DLC 34.48275862
*Johnson (South Dakota) DLC 31.03448276
Lincoln (Arkansas) DLC 31.03448276
Salazar (Colorado) DLC 24.13793103
*Pryor (Arkansas) DLC 22.4137931
Nelson (Florida) DLC 20.68965517
Landrieu (Louisianna) DLC 17.24137931
*Nelson (Nebraska) DLC 3.448275862

Byrd is a weird susprise, but he was also in the gang of 14. He seems to be all soft on Repubican nominations of judges.

Dorgan and Akaka aren't on this short list, but they are both DLC.

9. Akaka's DLC? Did he just join?
I don't see him on the list.

http://www.nndb.com/group/269/000093987

I don't know what he could possibly have been thinking. Is this some sort of tradeoff for the repukes stopping their obstructionist tactics on the "Akaka bill" for Federal recognition of native Hawaiians?

45. Well, well, well. Looky here...
http://starbulletin.com/breaking/breaking.php?id=6327

Hawaii's congressional representatives in Washington and officials of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs today applauded U.S. House passage of a bill awarding self-governance rights to those with Native Hawaiian ancestry....

Sen. Daniel Akaka, the bill’s namesake, said the passage would give his efforts momentum.

"I was thrilled to see bipartisan support for this long-needed legislation that underscores our ongoing efforts toward reconciliation across our islands," Akaka said.

I knew it. I just knew it. He rolled over on the racist judge to curry favor among repukes for his bill. :puke:

Remarks of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton at the Fifth Annual DLC National Conversation
Indianapolis, IN
By Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton...

What was it that sustained people through a great depression? What was it that enabled young men to risk their lives landing on beaches in the Pacific and the European theater? What was it that took my colleague, Danny Inouye, a Japanese American who was put into an internment camp and yet turned to the people who interned him and said, I'm an American, I want to fight on behalf of our freedom, and was sent to Italy where in the course of combat, he lost his arm.

Inouye was never interned! We had no internment camps on O'ahu (they would have had to build a barbed-wire fence around a quarter of the entire island). The only one I am aware of in the whole state (then territory) was on Maui.

15. Here, try this.
Democratic Candidates and the Democratic Party

Constructive criticism of Democrats or the Democratic Party is permitted. When doing so, please keep in mind that most of our members come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values. Highly inflammatory or divisive attacks that echo the tone or substance of our political opponents are not welcome here.

In other words, you attack a Democrat with a Repuke meme, then you can go fuck yourself. I would have supported your thread, if not for that.

He has the worst voting record of any Democrat in the Senate (by far) on GLBT issues. This is CURRENTLY. Not from 90 years ago.

Just because the guy's a Democrat doesn't make him an admirable person. He's still a bigoted asshole.

37. She's a good Senator
Edited on Wed Oct-24-07 07:53 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
However, her being there today would have made no difference.

From The Hill:

In a 62-35 vote, the Senate by a two-vote margin broke off a filibuster that threatened to derail the most contentious judicial nominee of the 110th Congress. Eight Democrats from states President Bush carried in 2004 joined all 49 Republicans as well as three blue-state Democrats and Connecticut Independent Joe Lieberman. The Senate later confirmed the nominee by a 59-38 vote. Democratic Sens. Ken Salazar (Colo.), Daniel Inouye of Hawaii and Tom Carper (Del.) voted against confirming Southwick after they voted to break a filibuster.

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/southwicks-saga-ends-with-win-for-gop-2007-10-25.html

They needed 60 votes for cloture, they had 62.

Hillary Clinton can be trusted to make good appointments to any circuit court, Supreme Court, etc. when she gets chance to make appointments....

And this is reason enough to vote for her if she's the nominee...When I hear Democrats say they won't vote for Clinton I still think they HAVE to be joking, cuz how in the FUCK could any DEMOCRAT stand the thought of Guiliani, Romney, McCain in the White House....

HRC is far from perfect, but she's 500x better than any Republican..
