Poll question: Which Democratic candidate would pass the stupid ''who I'd have a beer with'' test?
Since that was supposedly what helped Bush win in 2000 (besides his brother purging black voters in Florida and the Supreme Court appointing him), I wonder which candidate has that quality in our batch.

You could say how valid a measure it is the replies

1. I'd like to buy Al Gore a beer
I'd like to buy Al Gore a lot of beers until he got real drunk, then I'd have him sign the "Draft Al Gore" petition. :D

the more you got in him.

2. Biden is the only answer
We know how this question is used.

And quite frankly, I think it's bogus.

But knowing that, the answer is Biden. He's got that macho tough guy thing about him.

Edwards was made to look a little out of his league in the gruff department, sitting next to Cheney in 04.

Obama is too Metrosexual.

Hillary is a woman, which, accepting the pretext of this question, basically eliminates her.

5. your kidding. I could think of a lot of descriptions of Biden, and macho aint on the list
smarmy, smug, corporate, suit, shit-eating grin.

In any bar, he would be a combination of Frasier and Cliff Claven.

24. Are you saying that Hillary, being a woman, can't drink beer?
Edited on Wed Oct-24-07 01:42 AM by pnwmom
Or that you are a guy and so only can have a beer with another guy?

By that reasoning, Hillary should get all the women's votes and the other candidates would divide up the men's votes.

39. All the male candidates are married, too, which I guess means they
are off limits for beers with women. So Hillary should get all the women's votes, right? And the guys split the men's votes.

30. Gotta be Biden!
I got to spend a day, one on one with them all, and it's Biden hands down. My second thought, after talking to him for 10 minutes was, "Let's you and me go upstairs to the bar and have a few". My first thought was, this guy is a bullshitter, extraordinaire.

3. First choice is Biden.
I think he'd have the best stories and would tell them the best way. Second is a tie between Gravel and Dodd. Dodd would have great stories about the functions of Congress. Gravell has all that great history of the Nixon years, but he tends to ramble.

13. Republicans don't have any beer candidates. They're evenly divided between umbrella drinkers and
moonshiners.

Rudy and Mitt are umbrella drink guys all the way.

The rest are moonshiners except Fred who pretends to be a moonshiner but is actually a closet umbrella drinker.

16. Gore or Biden
Kucinich has my vote, but he might be a bit flaky over beer. Gravel might be good, but he's a bit intense for kicking back with a cold one. Gore and Biden strike me as the best bets.

But I'm not looking for a drinking buddy. I'm looking for a PRESIDENT.

Dude's from CLEVEland. Ergo, he drinks beer. Or boilermakers.

Gore drinks scotch on the rocks.

Obama drinks beer.

Clinton drinks margaritas and the occasional martini or vodka gimlet.

Edwards might have a beer at a barbecue, but he prefers bourbon. Neat.

Richardson drinks beer.

The rest of 'em...

He said that we are on the brink of it being technologically possible to have direct democracy, something about a National Initiative (think I'll go look it up after I post).

This was at a party at the home of an ancient hippie. The antiwar movement was very very small back then, you had your punks, clean-cut young communists, elderly hippies (most anarchists here are actually in this demographic), a few Democrats here and there, some libertarians, and spooks masquerading as any of the above.

I actually thought Gravel might be one of them...at first.

31. Biden strikes me as the most likely to go for a beer with me...
Clinton wouldn't have one with me unless i contribute the uppermost limit for an individual and then only after showing my receipt to her security chief.

Dodd might be great for a beer, but it might have to be imbibed on K Street, and i AIN'T goin' there.

Edwards would be great to have a beer with but I don't want to interrupt him as he tries to convince southern voters he'd be a great guy to have a beer with.

Gore hasn't declared yet that he would have a beer with me. however, he hasn't said he won't, so i just keep waiting, hoping and praying that one day SOON he'll give me a call. He has my number and everything!

Gravel might be fun for a Halloween beer- telling me how frightening the other candidates are...

Kucinich.. sure, yeah i'd go for a- waitaminute- does he even drink?

Richardson, yes, let's go have a beer. i've run out of clever things to say. maybe we can get Barrack to join us- hold on... where's Obama? -

Hey WHERE'S OBAMA!?!?!?!?
