Disgraced former Attorney General and Bush Crime Family minion Alberto "Torquemada" Gonzales may soon find himself on the receiving end of some well-deserved justice in the form of a federal indictment from the US Inspector General.

Fired former U.S. attorney John McKay dropped this bombshell at a speech to the Bar Association in Spokane, Washington last Friday. According to the Spokane Spokesman-Review, McKay stated that Gonzales “lied about” reasons for the firings of eight federal prosecutors when questioned under oath in July by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Appointed by President Bush in October 2001 to the top law enforcement job in western Washington, McKay said he believes he and the other U.S. attorneys were fired last December by Gonzales for political reasons.

In McKay's case, he believes it was his refusal to carry out Karl Rove's witch-hunt into the razor-thin victory Washington's Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire won over Republican challenger Dino Rossi in 2004 that landed him on Gonzo's hit list.

The White House said McKay was fired for poor performance ratings of his office, but the ex-U.S. attorney said he and his office got exemplary reviews just three months before he was fired. “The chief law enforcement officer for the United States should not lie to Congress under oath,’’ McKay told the bar association.

The U.S. Inspector General is expected to include recommendations regarding the prosecution of Gonzales and others in a report on its investigation that could be released as early as next month. McKay said he was questioned for eight hours regarding his firing by investigators working on the report.

Not surprisingly, Gonzales has now retained a high-profile defense lawyer, and apparently is refusing to answer questions from the Inspector General. Gonzo - who has avoided the limelight since his sudden August 27 resignation - seems to be twisting in the wind all by his lonesome on this one.

Has Bush forgotten his leetle tejano? Where's Rove when you need him? Oh, he resigned too. Scooter? Indicted as well. Harriet Miers? She slunk into the abyss after her disasterous attempt to join the Supreme Court.

Abu Gonzales was most recently seen in a Beltway coffe house, his small pudgy fingers clasped together at his breast, muttering to no one in particular: "Oh Rove, why hast thou forsaken me? I have been your faithful servant, master! I did your bidding, fired everyone you told me to AND forced my near-death predecessor to sign off on illegal spying. And don't forget the torture memo - you haven't have you? Look at all the pain and suffering and blood of innocents and children I have laid on your sacrificial alter! You promised me eternal liiiiiifffffeeeeee . . . . or at least eternal immunity from federal prosecution . . . (sob)"

Well . . . . maybe not those words exactly, but you get the point.

Our vet called first thing this a.m. and told us to rush O to the 24-hour emergency clinic. Blood tests showed diabetes and all his counts were critical, and his small clinic didn't have the resources to stabilize the little fella.

So we got him to the clinic right away and were told that the prognosis is guarded to poor. They can't start insulin until they get his vitals up. We're supposed to check back in another couple of hours.
