Republicans cut convention delegation in half

The Republican National Committee has informed Florida GOP leaders that the state will lose half of its delegates to the national convention next year because of its early presidential primary date.

The RNC sent letters today to Florida and four other states in violation of national party rules that require primaries to be held between Feb. 5 to July 28.

Florida’s primary is scheduled for Jan. 29.

Other states in violation of the rules are New Hampshire, South Carolina, Michigan and Wyoming.
