Southern California Appreciation Thread!
I'm sick of all the hating--although to be fair, those were mostly trolls that have since been tombstoned.

Be nice, please--it's where I grew up. An unbelievably beautiful place, filled with friendly, interesting people. Sure, it has its share of assholes and fundies, but doesn't everywhere?

4. I lived in the LA area for 17 years and loved it and miss it.
and did get a close-up look at the Malibu fire of 1993.

A true Californian doesn't trust any land that doesn't move, any trees that don't burn, and any air that they can't see.

6. Tombstoned? Good.
I always thought La Jolla was where God had his summer home.

I'm afraid to find out what happened overnight.

7. Spent my 40th b-day at Monarch Beach (Dana Point), beautiful memory
I don't think fire has reached that area (I hope not), but wanted to mention it because it is stunningly beautiful.
I've also spent time in the San Diego / Carlsbad area - it is so lovely and the people were wonderful.

I hope everyone is okay and that gorgeous area (all of S. CA) can be preserved as much as possible.

Thinking of all of you in Southern California!

8. It is too bad our National Guard is in another country or they
might be able to help with the firefighting and logistics in CA.

10. Born and raised there. Moved to the pacific NW in '81.
My wife is also a native. We finally got fed up trying to buy a decent house on our incomes, the endless summers, overpopulation and all it's ills, and the cost of living.

The only things I really miss are mockingbirds and eucalyptus trees.
