When the Republicons say "they" will follow us here
Who are they referring to? Iraqis? It certainly is not the terrorists that already attacked the USA because Iraq was not a part of their organization or their plots. So who exactly is "they"? and exactly what evidence is there to support their claims that "they" will follow us here and we will have to fight them in our streets here? The last Conflict that we left "unfinished" the Vietnam Conflict proved just the opposite. They not only did not follow us here nor did the domino theory stand up but they went on to become another friendly nation that ended their "civil war" The killing there is over and they even like Americans....So what do they base their assertions upon?

Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 12:31 PM by ck4829

2. "They"
means whoever we decide is our enemy on any given day. It's just another quick and easy talking point signifying nothing.

Must keep the masses scared. That's all it's ever been about.

3. No it is just another way of confusing the issue, "they" is all encompassing
It is a way of blurring the line between Iraq and Al Qaeda and Afghanistan and Iran and Syria, and all "them" Anyone that lives in and around the mid-east that does not like America. It is deceitful and dishonest and the Republicans need to be called on it. It is just plain bullshit..

6. "They" could attack us just as easily now
as they could then.

What is stopping them from attacking us now?

What will be different then?

12. They probably should attack us now, because we're tied down
in Iraq. Why wouldn't any enemy do an "end-around?"

8. Oh you know, it's the same 'they' that would overthrow the
government, steal your job, teach your kids naughty things, outlaw your religion, marry your sister, poison your water supply - they: the thing under your bed.

10. "They" are the terrists...all of them.
...If we kill them they are terrists. If they kill us they are terrists. Don't you remember 9/11? Terrists. 9/11. Terrists. You have to "catapult the propaganda".

13. Isn't that precious? The repubs have got a brand new meme
Follow us home. Like a stray dog? Like toilet paper stuck to your shoe? Let's review. We went over to kick Saddam's butt. Then as things spiraled down, the rocket scientists with the GOP spin machine said we were cleverly using Iraq as "terrorist flypaper." Yeah, maybe that's what we'll be trailing home behind us. Now we must stay and kill enough Iraqis to bring bush victory - course, problem is that he now says the problem is in Iran, so if we don't want them to follow us home, we have to attack Iran. If we bomb Iran, will we be safe then? Of course not. What we will be is permanently enslaved in bush's insane mission.

14. The stupidest thing about this argument (and there are many
stupid things about it) is that it admits up front nothing we did to beef up admission at the borders and airports is any good. Breaking down the INS into ICE and CIS and transferring it to the newly created Dept. of Homeland Security - all that was useless in the face of Iraqis who want to sashay over for a terrorist attack.

In which case, why don't they do it now? Wouldn't it be logical for them to fight us over here too, when fighting us over there does not get rid of us?

15. Good points, and let's not forget:
"They" have already been here, thanks to the negligence and incompetence of Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, and Rumsfeld (and minions).
