Poll: Most Back Dems In Kids' Health Fight (Eight in 10)
As Democrats try to rally support to override President Bush's veto, a CBS News poll finds an overwhelming majority of Americans support legislation that would expand a popular children's health insurance program.

Eight in 10 Americans favor expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program, or S-CHIP, including large majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

While the president has raised concerns about the additional cost of expanding S-CHIP, those who favor the proposal say they'd even be willing to pay more in taxes to help the program cover more children.

Eight in 10:

Number of Americans who favor Congress’s legislation to expand SCHIP, “including large majorities of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.” Just 22 percent of the public approves of President Bush’s handling of health care, a number even lower than his approval rating on Iraq (26 percent).

1. Republicans better support the SCHIP bill or this will come back to screw them at election time

People won't forget this bill and the Dems will put it out there day after day to show how cold-blooded, greedy, selfish the republicans really are!

2. D'ya think the Dems will realize...
that they are getting 80% approval ratings when they show some spine and stand up to Bush?

Maybe if they do, they'll do it more.

3. What that means is that IF people would take their democracy seriously,

and storm their Reps with demands to pass the damned thing, and go to the offices and face their Reps personally, it would have a HUGE effect.

But, most people are too apathetic.

Unless/until it happens to them.

Like the mother of Bethany, the little girl who was in the other Dem ad. The mother is Republican, and doesn't get her complicity in her own situation.

Yeah, I know... I'm being cranky.

BUT DAMN! People need to start THINKING.
