Hillary Rodham Clinton is "acting as if she's won"
Richardson Sees Clinton Claiming Victory

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democratic presidential hopeful Bill Richardson said Saturday that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is "acting as if she's won" the nomination.

"I think this is a time when voters start making up their minds and we draw contrasts," the New Mexico governor told reporters after addressing a union picnic in Las Vegas. "This race is not over. ... We've got three months to go."

1. And just how is she acting as if she's already one?
If that were the case, she wouldn't be showing up for the debates. She's shown up at every debate.

She is engaging the voters and putting her policy proposals out there for everyone to see.

Doesn't sound like someone who thinks they've got the nomination sown up.

3. You've "heard" this? And from whom, exactly? Sounds like the typical straw man argument
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 09:51 PM by journalist3072
Have you witnessed it? Or are you just talking just to hear yourself talking, and making an opportunity to baselessly smear Sen. Clinton?

Someone who's "arrogant" as you say, wouldn't be showing up at all the debates, engaging voters, and putting their ideas out there.

that what he's saying is accurate.

9. Agree -- but I think this is part of the game....
Opponents want to say this not only because they want her to appear arrogant to voters, but also to raise expectations. That way if she doesn't win an early state with a landslide, it's major -- she's done.

Her campaign is actually trying to downplay the "inevitability" factor and lower expectations. "We aren't taking anything for granted," they say. "We're just going to stay out there connecting with the people etc. etc..."

I think it's standard fare when there's a frontrunner...

8. She has...and that's a good thing.
That said, I like the whole field--
Not too discerning or insightful for this group, I realize.
But I really have no substantial complaints about
any of the Dem candidates, except Gravel the nutcase
(but you gotta love him anyway)

10. We're watching the political game folks!
That's why ay good advisor always tell a candidate "You NEVER say "IF" I win You always say "WHEN" I win!" It's all how you create an impression on the public.

12. She's acting like a frontrunner,
if she was in Richardson's place, she'd probably use the same strategy as all the others in the race ---> try to chip away support from the frontrunner ---> which Richardson's trying to do by that statement ---> all of which gets dizzying after awhile.

13. Support from major media outlets
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 10:57 PM by RogueBandit
She has the support of the corporatists. They know it will be a Democrat who wins (the Republicans don't have a viable candidate) so they are siding with the one who will support their corrupt agenda. The media is playing her like she is the front runner...and, yes it does look like she is but then she also simply has the most name recognition...three more months and the others will be present in voters' minds as well.

Lots of people I talk to say they are voting for her, but when I talk about the other candidates and the difference in their values those people are taking a second look at her. Mostly, the people I talk to who support her are women and they just want a woman president...until they begin to consider other things they want in our society.

Yeah, I know, this is flame bait. But it's what I believe. I just don't trust her. If she does get the nomination I will most likely vote for her but I will also be weighing the need to vote for a third party candidate. I don't like that anymore than you do. I certainly stand for the basic principles of the Democratic Party, but my leaders need to show they stand for those values as well, and I just don't see Hillary doing that.

Edit: I also mention to them that I am not interested in dynastic rule of the country Bush/Bush was bad enought.

Any feedback is appreciated.

18. Well ya see Bill, it comes down to a person choosing, you know all about that.
It also helps to have a choice as a Democrat of more than various warm bowls of milk for candidates. As of yet the biggest bowl has been choosen. Sorry you did not get the memo.

what a sham it is to hide behind insinuations that critics are somehow sexist and that criticisms are rooted in sexism. Convenient political tactic.
