Al Gore needs to remain "the best president we never had".
He has elevated himself to a place that's beyond the presidency. He has the respect and admiration of the whole world. I am sure he could meet with any leader on the planet..with just a phone call to set it up.

Any politician worth his salt will be coming to HIM..

We all had a chance to have him as president but his own party did not fight hard enough for him... he "knows" that. he was the smart guy..the details guy..the guy who had the common sense and the work ethic to do the job, but we passed on him..and got ourselves the guy who stands in the street, straddling his bicycle, directing traffic & eating his boogers

Gore won a moral victory, and has parlayed that into the status he currently has.

For him to return to the pedestrian antics required to run for office in our country would be a step down..

He has truly moved on..

The mystique of Al Gore will only grow, from this point on. To return to the crass business of campaigning would diminish him..

1. With some regret for what could, and should, have been, I tend to agree with you.

2. Disagree - the whole world NEEDS Al Gore to step up and help return the USA to a beacon of hope and
democracy.

In addition to helping the world solve global warming. Who ELSE can actually bring the world together in this effort?

5. Does Al Gore need Al Gore to step up?
He's busy doing things that could be defined as "president of the world" challenges.

Except for the modern ability of one nation to destroy the world, the need to prevent the destruction of all that we see as valuable is of higher priority than the travails of one nation.

7. Except when that one nation is considered to be a pretty intractable obstacle to solving things

4. I'm sorry, but screw Al Gore's legacy.
There's a shit load of stuff that needs to be fixed and he's overwhelmingly the best guy for the job.

9. So he's like Obi Wan Kenobi?
Darth Cheney kills him, but really losing is winning and he is even cooler! Hogwash. Moral victories only happen when you lose. The President of the United States can actually do something, as opposed to some guy with "mystique", who can't. You "Gore can do more now" people are living on another planet.
