What are your suggestions to legally and peacefully remove the likes....
...of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin and the rest of the right-wing bilge machine from our midst? We need ideas, and we need to implement them now.

1. How did we peacefully get rid of King George?
Oh wait... we didn't. The people you mention are the Tories working for our new Feudal Lords. The are the Corporations lapdogs. And the Corporations are our new Lords and Masters. Go ahead and try to stand against them.

3. I disagree....
...they have no fiat, they carry no portfolio, they are private citizens with a microphone yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre. Again, it can be done.

4. It goes beyond a simple vocal advantage
We have become trapped within the economic forces of our Corporate landscapes. Instead of working the fields for the Lords we work the cubes. We are so in debt that no one can simply pick up and walk away. We are indentured servants.

2. We can support left-wing media like "Air America Radio" and "The Real News,"
...but right-wing media will be around 100 years from now.

5. Perhaps encouraging sponsors to advertise on AAR or....
KPHX through a massive marketing campaign is one way to build the left-wing media, but at the same time we need to remove the bilge. Again, there are methods that need to be explored and implemented.

9. If you want Rush Limbaugh off "Armed Forces Radio"
...then Wesley Clark has a form for you to email Congress:

But if you want Rush Limbaugh off commercial radio, you're going to have to wait until he retires, which may happen in 20 years.

6. None. Let them speak.
Edited on Thu Oct-11-07 10:50 PM by Atman
They have as much right to spew their bile as we do (remember, they think what WE say is bile, too...it's all a matter of perspective). There could be, perhaps, tighter laws regarding outright lying on air, tied to the fact that they're engaged in a commercial endeavor and taking money for their spewage. But that's still a stretch legally.

Let them talk. After all, you could go on air tomorrow and say "The earth is made of puppies, marshmallow cream pies and slutty eighteen year old girls gone wild!" and you'd be held accountable for your words in the court of public opinion. You'd be considered an idiot, as Rush is. Except to the people that agree with him/you.

In a nation of 300,000,000, if even 1/10th of 1% agree with the likes of those assholes, that's still a heck of a lot of people.

Fight that which can be fought. The right to make a fool of yourself on air is sacrosanct in America. Rush, et al, prove that every day.

7. And the big lie was perfected in the 1930s....
...by a deranged group of lunatics who gave out free radios to everyone. The results were devastating.

8. So get a bigger radio.
The right of each and every one of us to express our views is about as all-American as it gets. If you don't like what they're saying, say something better and say it louder.

10. Who are they?
That's my solution. I hear nothing they say. If Rush, or Coulter were in your thread title, I would not have clicked. People give them far more attention than they deserve. I love how the "news media's" biggest 'news' stories, are on their competitors 'news' reporting. I guess there is nothing else going on in the world.
