Brian De Palma forced to redact his Iraq Redacted Film
Controversy continues to mount over Brian De Palma's scripted Iraq movie "Redacted," with the director questioning his distributor and right-wing pundits taking shots at the helmer.

The auteur told a New York Film Festival audience late Wednesday that he has lost a battle to keep real photos from the war from being altered as part of the controversial film's closing montage.

Instead, he was forced to redact, or black out, the faces in those photos at the request of the distributor, the Mark Cuban-owned Magnolia Pictures, which is releasing the movie in mid-November.

"The irony of all this is that even though everyone (in Iraq) has a digital camera and access to the Internet, somehow we don't see any of these images," De Palma said. "Why are things being redacted? My own film was redacted."

1. Is Mark Cuban afraid that the family of a dead Iraqi civilian is going to sue...
...for running a photo of the dead person without a signed release?

I've never heard of a lawsuit like that.

2. I can't weep tears for the gorehound DePalma.
Look at the man's filmography; if he could have done snuff films he would've.

3. All this to keep anyone from asking
What the HELL you're doing over there. And it works...as a discussion here has proven to me.

I find it utterly tiring. The world is being run by the thugs again.

4. That's ironic but not
surprising. I know Mark Cuban is a Dem(he gave Dan Rather a job on HDTV)..The viewers are still going to get a very graphic impression of the horrific scenes involving the Soldiers and the victims.
