Chris Matthews speaks "truth to power" 5 years too late

snip//

"They've finally been caught in their criminality," Matthews continued, although he did not specify the exact criminal behavior to which he referred. He then drew an obvious Bush-Nixon parallel by saying, “Spiro Agnew was not an American hero."

Well, they do say that the journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step, but if Matthews believes what he is saying to be true, he still has miles to go. What were these attempts by Dick Cheney and other to muzzle him -- and more importantly, did they work? Name names, if you're going to be so brave. You say they won't silence you? Great! We're listening.

And if you won't be silenced, why did you accuse Bush of "criminality" in front of handful of Beltway insiders, instead of the hundreds of thousands of Americans who watch you nightly on "Hardball"?

And if you have truly found religion on this issue, what about your bosses, who just last week were so eager to cave and bow down before an angry GOP congresswoman who didn't like how her interview on MSNBC went down?

Are you just trying to show Jon Stewart how cool you really are?

So far, all we really have from Matthews is this new one-liner:

Matthews left the throng of Washington A-listers with a parting shot at Cheney: “God help us if we had Cheney during the Cuban missile crisis. We’d all be under a parking lot.”

Now, try saying that on "Hardball" instead of in front of Ted Kennedy. Go ahead. You will not be silenced.

But I still think he's an ass for what he's done. And no one is ever going to convinve me Olbermanns ratings haven't played a part in Matthews behaviour.

I made the graphic to remind me that the candidates were the important thing...not getting mad at extreme posts, but they sure are nice to look at!

3. For Tweety's mea culpa to mean anything
He would have to say something like this:

"The media has been culpable in aiding and abetting the criminality of the Cheney Bush administration. We have ignored their lawless behavior and exaggerated their meager accomplishments for six years. In essence we have lied to the American people and have forfeited our right to be called honest journalists. We have been stenographers. And I've been one of the worst. My disgusting display of homo erotic glee at the president on that aircraft carrier with his shorts stuffed full of socks was the low point of a media era that featured many low points. I can no longer appear every night and lie to the American public so I am resigning effective immediately and will give testimony to the complicity of the american news media in the criminal activities of this administration to any investigative body before which I am called. Keith Olbermann will take over my time slot on MSNBC starting tomorrow. He has more integrity in his little finger than I have in my entire doughy body. Thank you and good bye."

8. " I hate him, detest him, and despise him..."
"In fact HIM I don't like!" - MAD Magazine, 196-(?)

Tweety is a politically schizophrenic, opportunistic, two-faced, faux-Philadelphian, faux-Tip O'Neill employee, faux-masculine, faux-intelligent, faux-insider, faux-journalist, faux-commentator, faux-insightful, faux-amusing, creepy, smarmy, psychologically unstable, projectionist-of-values-and-mores-onto-others, overstuffed shithead.

I know I forgot a few things but what the Hell...it's a good start.

I just edited it so that the bottom part of the symbol (th words) reads better. What do you think?

18. And, unfortunately for us, he is an example of Modern day success.
In the era of outsourcing, Chris Matthews is the face of new American.

Yes, it involves a little thing we use to refer to as selling out the country.

11. Well, he's speaking the truth at last, just not to power
The power center is shifting in this country away from the lawless Bush administration and Tweety is now safe to finally say something about this.

14. Matthews is a creep -- but it's another favorable sign that MSM may be cracking --
under the weight of Bush's incredible corrupt and criminal practices ---
his world crimes.

THAT's why IMPEACHMENT INVESTIGATIONS are so important to begin as soon as possible ---

16. Matthews was for the war before he was against the war. He's a total sellout.
If the war had come to an end in 6 months, like Rummy and Wolfowitz had suggested in 2003, Matthews never would have questioned Bush's decision to invade Iraq.

Matthews voted for Bush in 2000.
He's a conservative.

Matthews just wants to remain on tv and he will say anything to stay on tv.
As long as his ratings are high enough to keep him on the air, he doesn't have to be right.
He's just like Sean "Insanity" Hannity and Bill "Falafel" O'Reilly - they don't care if they are right as long as they can cash their fat paychecks making ludicrous comments on tv.

They are only in it for themselves. They don't give a shit about the truth or about the war or about America.

If Matthews had cared, he wouldn't have had the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth on his program for 3 solid weeks in August of 2004 - more exposure time than anyone else gave them.

If Matthews really cared, he wouldn't have Ann Coulter on his program, spewing the most vile, vicious crap I've ever heard about liberals.
