Richard Lamm president of the Southern Baptists has endorsed Rudy Giuliani
So for him, it does not really inolved abortion, sexuality, but cash, tax cuts and laissez faire capitalism.

Lesson 1: Republicans only use abortion, sexuality, and other social issues to divide middle class people and even the poor people so they vote Republican and against their economic interests.

2. Interesting... Maybe this is to avoid having their own version of Nader....
Rudy is the GOP's "moderate." Republicans see him as a "hold-your-nose-and-vote" compromise, thinking he can win over enough independents to defeat a Democrat.

But the "far right" may want to run their own evangelical-friendly candidate to "move the party right" and "vote their conscience," which would siphon votes from Rudy... A dangerous proposition for the GOP.

For the Southern Baptists' president to endorse Rudy, seems to me, is a signal to the "right" that he's okay -- and no need to run anybody else if he gets the nom!

If they do have an independent contender, it'll be my turn to donate to the spoiler and smile as the GOP's infighting does them in.

Hopefully, this will ring some bells within our own party.

3. Rrrrrreally?
Now that is an interesting development. I can see a significant part of his 'flock' being extremely unhappy with this. I've got to say it's been fascinating watching this long-brewing schism among the fundies finally come to fruition.

And as significant as all this is, the reality is that the corporatocracy doesn't need them anymore. The Vichy Dems have more than made up for their numbers.

5. That's exactly right...
These people want tax dollars to build their churches, etc. and they want to control the federal government.

When they first came together, that was the reason...abortion, homosexuality, etc. are just wedge issues to get right-wing zealots to vote Republican.

Lamm, and all the leaders of the Religious Right are sham-artists.

6. I think you're talking about Richard LAND, and he's not
president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Richard Land is the head of a group owned by the SBC called the Religious Liberty and Ethics Commission (a misnomer, because that group is for neither religious liberty, or ethics).

Richard LAMM was the Democratic governor of Colorado.

The president of the Southern Baptist Convention is a guy named Frank Page.

8. He cares more about power than he does about abortion
or gay marriage. So he's willing to sell out his so called principles and those of his wack job followers to gain access to what he hopes will be the next administration. This endorsement will piss off a lot of the nut case jesus freaks within his membership and it may lead to a big giant split between the merely fanatic and the really deranged.

In any case I'll be stocking up on:popcorn:
