Is Dennis seriously pursuing the nomination?
I don't think he is. I think he's trying to broadcast his ideas about what and who we should be as a nation. I think performs a useful function in that role, but I don't think his is a serious run.

He has virtually no ground game in Iowa, and very little in NH or SC. His campaign simply doesn't reflect that he's really going after the nomination.

I like many of Dennis' ideas. I like his healthcare plans and the idea of forming a Dept of Peace isn't really flaky, even if Strength through Peace is a horrible name. But I don't think he's really running and I don't see him as a plaster saint. He plays politics too.

1. My dear cali...
I have a good friend who knows Dennis Kucinich personally, and my friend tells me that DK is serious about this.

For what it's worth...

2. Thanks, Peggy
I remain unconvinced, however. His campaign simply doens't reflect a serious run. It may be a game, but you can't ignore Iowa, NH, SC or Nevada- particularly if you're an underdog. Compare Dean's campaign with Dennis', for example.

10. Why the hostility?
Is Dennis above being questioned? I certainly didn't say anything negative about him.

3. I was told by a supporter here in Iowa
that he told DK not to campaign here but to put his efforts into NH. Why? b/c it's hard to fly planes in/out of Iowa AND travel around here. Can cover more ground in NH on one plane ticket  (That really doesn't explain trips to CA/FL/HI but I let it go). We can't MAKE him campaign here

He will be in Iowa at the Johnson County Dems BBQ this coming Saturday - his 7th trip to Iowa since January 2007 :bounce:

7. It's my understanding
that he doesn't have a very active campaign in NH either. And othr candidates certainly get to Iowa despite it being "hard to fly in and out of". And no, of course you can't make him campaign there, but it's just something serious contenders have to do.

15. He's been to NH 3x as much as Iowa AND I believe he has a HQ there

Wish he'd come here more often - I know people who want to see him.

16. Well
I suppose if he did not use all his bags of money to go on those fancy trips with his new wife he might be. Good grief. Maybe he is just in it for his health?

Come on, you KNOW why he is not everywhere. It is not a secret how much money he has and why.

17. Y'know...If he'd sell out his principles for cash
maybe he'd seem more serious about the nomination to you...but that's not Dennis!

Go Dennis! :woohoo:

19. Dean didn't sell out for cash
in '04. He was supported overwhelmingly by small donors. Ron Paul, who I find detestable raised five times what Dennis raised in the last quarter almost solely from small donors.

18. He's Won The DU Nomination Already
Can't you tell, he should be annointed and why bother having an election. He should just be declared the winner and we all should be awed.

From what I've seen here on the ground in Illinois he has no campaign operation while most the other candidates do (the others who we haven't seen are Gravel and Biden).

I'm sure we'll hear the excuses that he doesn't have the money or he's not a "sell-out" like the other, but campaigns are won by organization...getting the word out to millions of possible voters. The ones who have the most bodies on the ground are the ones who do well. Senator Edwards has built a decent ground staff in Iowa and why has done well...Obama also has built a good operation. It's the nuts and bolts that have won elections and will continue to do so.

You'd think with all the Dennis supporters here, he'd have thousands of people swarming all over the early states to get the word out...that they'd be so committed to his vision they'd be lining up around the block to canvass and do whatever it took to get voters familiar with him. Again...nada.

Last note. I was at the DKos debate...while the other candidates debated (other than Gravel whose car was being towed), Dennis played the house...quite telling as to his role in this campaign.

22. Kucinich is a social revolution waiting for the starting gun to fire.
If the herd turns his way, he will be picking his VP soon enough. Do not underestimate a voice of reason in a troubled time, a voice for peace in a time of strife.

Yes, he thinks he's serious about being the nominee. No, he doesn't have an ice cube's chance in Hell of winning the nomination.
