How about a DU campaign volunteer corps (for smaller, local races)?
Edited on Wed Oct-03-07 12:22 PM by blondeatlast
I'm pretty much a housewife, yet I have remarkable research and writing skills when I set my mind to it and am inspired. I also have lots of time by myself when my son is in school and Mr. BAL is at work.

I'm not a social type, though, so for me, a campaign of my own isn't a good idea. I tried it once, became very ill, and had to give up very early anyway.

Now that you know why I'm on DU so much, it occurs to me that there is a lot of unused talent on DU. We have people who can compile statistics, research, write, do art, video, etc. I doubt I've even touched on all of the valuable human resources here.

It's far too early for phone calls, pounding the pavement, and knocking doors but I know there must be many, many like me who can't wait for 2008 (geez, I'm a poet too!).

Would anyone be interested in something like this? Is it feasible, as I hate to strain DU's precious and very efficient resources any more than they are?

Or is there, as is very possible, something like this already on DU?

Edit: Clarification--this would be remote; anything would pretty much have to be able to be e-mailed, FTP'ed, etc.

1. AND one thing we can start with
Someone on DU suggested that since the CEO of Clear Channel won't get rid of rush, what we should do is get him kicked off local radio stations. Find out what local businesses sponsor him and boycott them locally.

Since we don't have rush is our area...thank they good Lord...I would volunteer to write, call and email any sponsors in any area that sponsors this monster. What we need is for a person in each area list find the names of the sponsors and let us know. Maybe we could have a special forum for volunteers for all these things.
