We're on high fucking military alert here.
There have been low flying military planes flying over us for the last hour. I don't know what the fuck is happening. Very low flying craft.

:scared:

Has the bombing on Iran started?

9. I've been here for over three years and have not heard this before.
The last time I heard this was after 9-11 in NYC when I worked there and was there that day.

13. Dont see much of a difference in the commercial airline traffic
Via www.flightaware.com:

http://flightaware.com/live/airport_status_bigmap.rvt?ident=KBWI&airport=KBWI&key=81b0cb913b7753341aac2c955f1a17a4e55f4f64

Usually if someone big is coming in they clear the airspace and you wouldn't see many commercial jets. Traffic patterns look pretty normal for BWI, DCA, and IAD.

17. I just checked FlightAware, too and I thought the same thing....
Does like a zone of little to no traffic just southwest of IAD, but for the most part looks normal.
Isn't Flight Aware a fun resource? I live just across Lake Michigan from Chicago and all the European bound flights out of ORD go right over my house. I frequently check on Flight Aware to see what's going over.

21. How do you know you're under alert?
Maybe they're just on maneuvers. Training.

Otis AFB is closing in MA or did close. Maybe those jets are now arriving near you?

Is there a football game near you? Maybe doing a fly over?

25. We saw something strange this weekend.
Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 10:02 PM by woodsprite
We were driving down I-95 near New Castle County airport in Delaware and saw what looked like a fighter jet on an intercept with a small white prop plane over the highway. Alot of people were watching. The fighter stayed flying straight and the prop plane veered. We were heading past the airport, so we looked - thought maybe there was some kind of airshow (it was Sunday) of maybe a fly in, but we couldn't see any activity there at all.

It shook the whole family up a bit.

Edited to add that NCC airport is home to the DE Air National Guard unit, but they're cargo haulers (C-130s). Now *THEY* do touch/goes all the time and will fly very close to our house. Sometimes it sounds like they are coming thru the roof. They usually run 3 planes at a time, so you'll get a quick succession, then a break, then they repeat.

26. A quick update.
Just heard another aircraft. We are about 10 miles outside of BWI and there is an approach route near where we live. Nothing coming in tonite, except for several low flying crafts.
