Crab Rangoon=Freedom Fries?
Last Friday, my husband and I dined at one of our favorite Chinese buffet places. I noticed something curious in the appetizer section. The crab Rangoon was labeled as "cheese-stuffed wonton." While truthful by description, I've never seen Crab Rangoon labeled this way. I wonder if this is a reaction to the atrocities currently taking place in Myanmar.

Hmmm.... it makes you wonder.

1. I would assume it's just standard American stupidity...

EDIT: I.e., they're sick of answering stupid questions, so they dumb the menu down from the get-go. Pop-up pictures would be next.

2. Can we call it Burma?
I know it may rankle some people with its colonial connotations, but 'Myanmar' is the name given by the military junta when they took power. Just sayin'....

4. btw, is "Crab Rangoon" (Crab Yangon?)any more authetically Burmese than French Fries were Parisian?
Always wondered.

Those things look like they're coronary disasters anyway.

That was also, however, perhaps the most enigmatic post I've ever seen on DU...well done!

(on edit)

I've found the source of the quote. Thanks for not mentioning what the Zoroastrian named Vilma did.

Sounds kind of gross, when you think about it.
