Latest update from OperationMindCrime
For those thousands of us following Stacy's condition...

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x6984607#6984633

Sadly, it's not what we're praying for. :-(

Cross-posted in the Lounge, too.

1. He's being so brave...
Letting her go without resusitation is a very hard thing to do...

Safe passage to Stacey...

And my love and support to OMC and his family during this very stressful time...

2. That is hard, Peggy, but IMO, it's the right thing to do.
I grew up hearing stories, horrid stories, of people who refuse to let go.

I am still hoping for Stacey's miracle of miracles, and I won't stop praying for it.

But,

if it's her time, then I also pray that she go peacefully, and that OMC can find peace.

3. It is time
it is the hardest decision to make for a relative, ever, but it is time.

But sometimes it is the best one.

8. It is the right thing to do...
I have seen CPR done on people who shouldn't have had it done, and it does break bones and all the rest.

When someone is dying, the best thing that can be done is to let them go...

If Stacey really does recover, then that will indeed be a miracle.

I don't believe in them...

But, whatever will be, will be...

The whole situation makes me sad...

12. I know what you mean, Peggy.
When my dad had cancer, he and my mom talked, and he decided he didn't want to be resusitated if it would do him more harm than good. They talked to all of us (kids) about it, and hard as it was, we agreed.

Sometimes, it's the kindest thing of all.

21. At this point, the decision is up to OMC
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 03:52 PM by jgraz
Let's please keep the discussion to supporting him and not stray into any personal and wrenching decision process he may be going through.

Edit: OMC, whatever decision you make, you are the one to make it. I've made the same decision and seen it made two other times. The ONLY person qualified to do this is the patient's family. Whatever you decide, we'll be here for you and support you.

15. I'm still praying for a miracle,
so I won't say "safe passage" until the end becomes inevitable. I had to make that decision too, for my mother and my husband. If you know it's really the end it isn't so difficult, because to keep them alive for a few minutes or hours would only be to torture them, and that's the last thing anyone wants.

6. I think I kept my dad alive for too long -- long after he wanted to go -- because
I didn't want to lose him. The courage and love required for what OMC is doing is almost incomprehensible to me. I'm in awe.

I pray for whatever is best for Stacy and for strength and support for OMC during this devastating time.

I'm so sad for them.

14. You're right. It takes a huge amount of courage
to not grasp at every chance, not matter how futile. This is hard enough when you're taking care of elderly parents -- I can't imagine how hard it must be when you're losing a young spouse.

26. I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
I know the pain can seem unbearable but I just watched the videos you posted on utube of your lovely wife and I honestly believe that every moment you share with her will live on forever, through not only pictures, memories, but through your children family and friends.

I believe with all my heart that she was a very blessed and lucky woman to have had such a man to love her as you have and will always and forever hold those feelings in your heart...I have no doubt even if she is unresponsive at this moment, she knows and she hears your voive and feels your love.

this is just SO wrong ... a beautiful young child like that should live into her 90's.

Well, we're here for support no matter what happens.
