Friday is the time to shed your fears of such foolish inquiries — it's "Ask A Stupid Question Day."
...to get the holiday under way, we've compiled some of the silliest inquests we could find.
<snip>
"Who are these people?" — Former Vice President Al Gore as he passed busts of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin on a tour of Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello.
This nonsense appears to have originated with none other than Ann Coulter, and then repeated ad infinitum for over four years.
How do I know it's bogus? Back in 2002, a RW associate of mine sent me that quote, and when challenged, sent me a video as "proof".
He obviously didn't watch the actual video, as it turned out that Gore was passing the busts of
John Paul Jones and the Marquis de Lafayette, not Washington and Franklin (their busts were on the other side of the room).
(this is not debunked on snopes, nor could I find reference to it in the 2002 DU archives)
