Oscar winner Kevin Spacey leads the cast of HBO Films' "Recount," which chronicles the turbulent events in Florida after the 2000 presidential election.

Tom Wilkinson, Denis Leary, Ed Begley Jr., Laura Dern, John Hurt and Bob Balaban co-star in the film, from Spring Creek/Mirage Prods. in association with Tigger Street Prods. and Everyman Pictures.

Written by Danny Strong and to be directed by Jay Roach, "Recount" focuses on the ordinary people caught up in the extraordinary events surrounding the fateful vote. It begins with the Nov. 7 elections, follows the slew of controversial court challenges and recounts and culminates with the Dec. 12 Supreme Court ruling that effectively handed George W. Bush the presidency.

Spacey will play Ron Klain, Vice President Al Gore's former chief of staff who headed the Democratic candidate's legal efforts in Florida as general counsel for the Gore-Lieberman Recount Committee. It marks Spacey's first TV project in 13 years, since the 1994 HBO movie "Doomsday Gun."

4. "..before the election.."
That was exactly my thought. NOT after another election theft!

7. I know what you mean. The opening of "Fahrenheit 9/11" makes me weep.
But I think I might have to watch this one (with a box of Kleenex nearby, of course).

9. I'd be more upset by Spacey's "Beyond the Sea" — what a horrible film!
But I still like him as an actor.

12. bad casting on Katherine Harris
Laura Dern's a fine actor, but she's too pretty to play Harris. Maybe they'll cover her with 10 punds of makeup, to get the proper Harris effect?
