I never watched this show before, but the question was: What percentage of Americans feel it's important to stay in Iraq and finish the job. (I'm paraphrasing, but this was approximately the question)

I was sure the contestant was going to answer too low. She was even eliciting the help of the audience that was comprised of New Yorkers. Drew Carey, I was sure was encouraging her to rethink her strategy based on this. He then emphasized that a comprehensive crossection of the entire country was polled.
She finally guessed between 16-36%

I was shocked to hear the answer was 11%!

What BS have we been fed?

(that was really a rhetorical question)

6. The show says that they are very careful with the demographic.
I would bet it is more accurate than most of the polls we see in Rasmussen.

9. LOL..you're right! I just looked this up.
I wonder if the methodology for the Power of Ten is the same as the methodology for their regular polls? And if it is, why are the answers so different?

This is what the CBS website says:

Specific survey questions are determined by Power of 10 and submitted to Rasmussen Reports. Respondents are selected on a completely random basis through a process designed to insure an appropriate geographic distribution throughout the country. The reported results reflect the overall United States population in terms of age, race, gender, political party, and other factors.

12. Very interesting, renie408. If the same methodology is used
in this show as national reporting, someone is fudging the numbers. hmmmm.

4. I'm surprised Drew let that question on the air, if that was the answer. I saw him bashing National
Health Care the other night during that show. Damn RW asshole. I'll never watch that show again.

5. more interesting is the fact that CBS used the question
I have no idea how scientific the poll they use for Power of 10 is. But even non scientific polls serve propaganda purposes. If journalists can't get an alternate point of view out on the news, maybe game show question writers can do it!

13. When Drew Carey was on the Bill Maher Show,
he mentioned this at the table talk discussion. I don't know what week it was since I watch it On-Demand.....Carl Bernstein was also a guest.
