Profile: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Are we a bit heavy on the throttle concerning these 'terrorist' leaders? You know, it's just like with Saddam Hussein--it was like he'd been there forever, the eternal enemy.

Two years ago, no person called Ahmadinejad was in charge of Iran. Before 2003, he wasn't known even to the Iranians.

Two years ago, in 2005, just in time for a new warmongering leader to appear after Hussein was gone, Ahmadinejad appeared, to fill nicely into their picture of fear and loathing. Whatever you think about this guy, he's fitting into the need of the US administration for a new enemy. The good enemy.

So, how fast are the next superdangerous Muslim leader to go from 'Huh? Who's that?' to 'OH MY GOD - he's got nuclear weapons and a black beard!'? A week?

Look at this poll from 2000:

TEHRAN, Iran (Reuters) -- An opinion poll carried out by Iran's culture ministry shows that only 8.1 percent of Iranians perceive the United States as an enemy, newspapers reported on Tuesday.

A poll from 2007 confirms this rather undramatic picture.

Are we being screwed here?

3. Why are the Saudi's allowed in this country
bush even had them in the whitehouse and was holding their hands. Why not outrage and demonstrations about that. 17 of the 19 attackers were Saudi. And contrary to what people say, THEY WERE TRAINED IN SAUDI ARABIA BY BIN LADEN.

How are we going to learn the views of other people if we don't allow them to talk. How are we going to tell that person our views if we are not going to have a discourse.

bush and the republicans don't want a discourse, they want to promote war. And how they do it is fan the flames of discontent. They are as stupid as crap and we know it. Bill Clinton said the best way to promote peace is to sit down and talk to other countries.

On edit: To answer your question, yes, we are being propagandized into attacking Iran in order to ensure access to the 80% of the worlds remaining petroleum resources in the Middle East for the oligarchs controlling the multinational oil companies. Thing is, just like two kids fighting over a toy, they will probably break it, which will result in the collapse of the western economies and more than likely the United States. So, yes, we are being screwed.

Supreme leader: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

The supreme leader - the highest power in the land - appoints the head of the judiciary, military leaders, the head of radio and TV and Friday prayer leaders. Moreover, he selects six members of the Guardian Council, an influential body which has to pass all legislation and which can veto would-be election candidates. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was appointed for life in June 1989, succeeding Ayatollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic republic. He served two consecutive terms as president in the 1980s. He has intervened on behalf of conservatives, coming into conflict with former president Mohammad Khatami and other reformists.

President: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

The president is elected for four years and can serve no more than two consecutive terms. The constitution describes him as the second-highest ranking official in the country. He is head of the executive branch of power and is responsible for ensuring the constitution is implemented.

In practice, however, presidential powers are circumscribed by the clerics and conservatives in Iran's power structure, and by the authority of the Supreme Leader. It is the Supreme Leader, not the president, who controls the armed forces and makes decisions on security, defence and major foreign policy issues.

All presidential candidates are vetted by the Guardian Council, which banned hundreds of hopefuls from standing in the 2005 elections.

If the Reich thinks they can topple this complex of a Governmental system with a bombing campaign, they must be nuts.

Oh, wait . . .
